Senior Civil Estimator – Local Government Infrastructure

We are an established civil contractor with a robust reputation and long-standing client relationships. As the business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Senior Civil Estimator to take a lead role within our construction team.

The primary focus of this position will be pricing and securing local government civil infrastructure projects , along with selected private-sector opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

- Preparing accurate and competitive tender submissions for minor and major civil infrastructure projects
- Taking ownership of tenders from initial review through to final submissionn
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, schedules and contract documentation
- Completing detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates
- Developing construction methodologies and preliminary construction programmes
- Ensuring full compliance with tender requirements and submission deadlines
- Obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Sourcing disposal/tip sites and confirming pricing and availability




- Identifying project risks, opportunities, exclusions and commercial considerations
- Preparing tender clarifications and qualifications where required
- Participating in tender reviews with management
- Assisting with contract negotiations and post-tender clarifications
- Completing tender handovers to the project delivery team following award
- Maintaining accurate records of tender documentation, correspondence, pricing and submissions
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and clients

About You

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

- Significant experience estimating civil construction projects
- A proven history of successfully tendering and winning local government civil infrastructure work
- Strong understanding of civil construction methodologies and sequencing
- Experience pricing road reconstruction, drainage, earthworks, pavements, concrete, asphalt and associated civil works
- Strong commercial and contractual understanding
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlines
- Strong subcontractor and supplier relationships
- Ability to work independently while contributing as part of the management team
- A practical understanding of how civil projects are actually delivered on site
- A genuine drive to win profitable work and contribute to the continued growth of the business

The Role

This isn't a position where we are simply looking for someone to complete take-offs and submit prices.

We are looking for an experienced estimator who can take ownership of our tendering function , understand the market, identify the right opportunities and help Etheredge Mintern secure profitable civil projects .
