Nerang Neighbourhood Centre
Gold Coast
We don't just want someone to market what we do. We want someone who can help us grow what is possible.
Nerang Neighbourhood Centre is looking for an exceptional relationship-builder, business developer and storyteller to take on a newly created
Head of Marketing & Partnerships
role.
We're a successful grassroots community organisation with strong government relationships, established services, an extraordinary local network and a reputation built over many years.
What we haven't had is a person whose job is specifically to turn that reputation, impact and network into
new partnerships, sustainable income and opportunities .
That's what this role is about.
We're looking for someone who can walk comfortably into a boardroom, a local business, a community event or a conversation with a potential donor and see possibilities.
Someone who doesn't wait for opportunities to arrive.
Someone who creates them.
What you'll be here to achieve This isn't a role where success will be measured by how many social-media posts you produce.
We want measurable outcomes.
Your focus will include:
developing corporate and community partnerships that deliver genuine value to NNC;
identifying and securing sponsorship, philanthropic support, grants and other income opportunities;
developing recent and diversified sources of unrestricted income;
building sustainable financial support for NNC's community Food Service;
increasing the utilisation and profitability of our community facilities;
identifying opportunities to leverage NNC's assets, reputation, networks and community reach;
building relationships with businesses, government, philanthropy, community leaders and potential strategic partners;
developing sponsorship and partnership propositions that businesses actually want to engage with;
strengthening NNC's brand, marketing and external profile;
capturing and communicating the stories and outcomes that demonstrate our impact;
improving our digital and marketing capability;
supporting events, campaigns and fundraising initiatives;
creating systems and pipelines so opportunities and relationships are actively managed rather than sitting in someone's head; and
working closely with the General Manager to convert ideas and relationships into sustainable outcomes.
Two immediate priorities You'll have plenty of room to identify opportunities, but we're not handing you a blank sheet of paper.
Two immediate priorities are already waiting.
Food Service sustainability:
Our community Food Service supports people experiencing hardship every week. We want to build a sustainable partnership and funding base around it so that its operating and staffing costs are increasingly supported through external partnerships rather than simply absorbed by NNC.
Bert Swift Community Centre:
We manage a valuable community facility that has considerably more potential to generate income. We want someone to look at its utilisation commercially and creatively and turn unused capacity into sustainable, unrestricted revenue for NNC.
And we're confident there are opportunities we haven't even thought of yet.
Who we're looking for Your background could be in business development, partnerships, sales, marketing, sponsorship, fundraising, events, communications, entrepreneurship or a combination of them.
More important than the title on your previous business card is evidence that you've
made things happen .
You might be someone who has:
built partnerships from scratch;
developed and converted a sales or sponsorship pipeline;
secured significant funding or investment;
grown a business, product, organisation or brand;
created commercial opportunities from underutilised assets;
developed compelling sponsorship propositions;
successfully pitched to senior decision-makers;
built networks across business and community;
used marketing and storytelling to generate measurable outcomes; or
taken an idea from “we should do this” to “it's done and it's working.”
You'll need excellent communication skills, commercial judgement, initiative and the confidence to represent NNC externally.
You'll also need to understand that community-sector success isn't simply about revenue. The partnerships we create need to align with our purpose and ultimately improve what we can deliver for our community.
A different kind of opportunity This is a newly created position, initially
20 hours per week for 12 months .
We're deliberately starting there.
We want the successful person to demonstrate what is possible when NNC has dedicated business-development, marketing and partnership capability.
If the role generates the value, revenue and opportunities we believe it can, there is genuine potential for it to grow.
In other words,
help us build the business case for your own future.
You'll work directly with NNC's General Manager and have considerable autonomy to develop relationships, pursue opportunities and recommend new approaches.
We're interested in outcomes, initiative and accountability – not someone who needs to be told what to do every hour of the week.
About us Nerang Neighbourhood Centre is a well-established grassroots community organisation based on the Gold Coast.
Every day we work with people experiencing housing crisis, financial hardship, family difficulties, social isolation and other challenges. We provide practical assistance, community connection and pathways to other services alongside programs including youth support, food relief and financial and community support.
We also manage the Bert Swift Community Centre and work extensively with government, community organisations, businesses and other stakeholders across the Gold Coast.
We're small enough to move quickly, established enough to have credibility and ambitious enough to know there is considerably more we could achieve.
