Haizea Analytics is seeking an experienced Senior Frontend Software Developer to work on a production geospatial platform where interactive mapping is a core part of the product.

The successful candidate will take ownership of frontend development using React, Next.js and TypeScript, including complex mapping and geometry functionality. The role also involves developing .NET/C# API endpoints, maintaining Azure infrastructure and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and diagnosing production issues across the application stack.

This is a senior, hands-on position requiring strong commercial frontend development experience and demonstrated experience with map-heavy web applications.

Full-time, permanent (38 hours per week) | $115,000 – $125,000 + superannuation | On-site in Acton, ACT

Key duties and responsibilities

- Design, develop and maintain responsive web application features using React, Next.js and TypeScript.
- Translate Figma designs into responsive and cross-browser compatible interfaces.
- Develop interactive mapping functionality, including drawing and editing tools, layer management, spatial validation and coordinate transformations.
- Develop and optimise geometry operations involving polygons and large spatial datasets.
- Improve browser rendering and application performance for large geospatial feature sets.
- Develop and maintain .NET/C# API endpoints for database operations and application functionality.
- Develop and maintain automated unit, integration and end-to-end tests.
- Build, maintain and troubleshoot Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, including builds, releases, service connections, secrets and environments.
- Configure, maintain and monitor Azure infrastructure, including App Services, Key Vault, storage, networking,



identity and access management, alerting and cost monitoring.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues across frontend, backend and cloud infrastructure.
- Document technical solutions, production issues and system changes.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in application architecture, development practices and deployment processes.

Requirements

- Minimum 3 years of commercial frontend software development experience, excluding study, internships and personal projects.
- Demonstrated production experience with React, Next.js and TypeScript.
- Demonstrated experience developing interactive browser-based mapping and geospatial applications.
- Experience with mapping technologies such as Leaflet, MapLibre, Mapbox GL JS or OpenLayers.
- Experience working with spatial data formats and concepts including GeoJSON, WKT, projections and EPSG codes.
- Experience performing geometry operations such as intersection, union, buffering, simplification and topology validation using libraries such as Turf.js or JSTS.
- Demonstrated experience optimising the rendering and editing of large spatial datasets.
- Hands-on experience building, maintaining and troubleshooting Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
- Hands-on experience configuring and monitoring Microsoft Azure resources.
- Experience developing and maintaining automated test suites.




- Ability to work on-site in Canberra, ACT.
- Full and unrestricted working rights in Australia.

Qualification

- A relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline is preferred.

Skills, knowledge and experience

- Strong knowledge of React, Next.js, TypeScript and modern frontend development practices.
- Strong understanding of responsive web development and experience implementing interfaces from Figma designs.
- Advanced knowledge of interactive web mapping and geospatial application development.
- Solid understanding of spatial geometry, coordinate systems, projections and geospatial data processing.
- Practical experience with Leaflet, MapLibre, Mapbox GL JS, OpenLayers or comparable mapping libraries.
- Experience with Turf.js, JSTS or similar geometry-processing libraries.
- Strong knowledge of Azure DevOps, including YAML pipelines, service connections, variable groups, environments and secrets.
- Practical experience with Azure App Services, Key Vault, storage, networking, identity and access management.
- Experience with automated unit, integration and end-to-end testing.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex application and production issues.

Highly regarded / desirable

- .NET/C# backend development experience, including API development (highly regarded).
- Experience with Nx or other monorepo tooling.
- Experience with Docker and containerised deployments.
- Experience with SQL Server or PostGIS.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Bicep, ARM or Terraform.
- Previous experience with environmental, planning, government or scientific data platforms.
