Permanent Full-Time

Walcha Council is seeking an Urban Construction Operator. This position forms part of the Urban team and contributes to providing well maintained Council facilities, assets and improvement programs, creating a safe and efficient environment within the Walcha Local Government Area. The successful applicant will undertake a variety of laboring duties as directed across local roads, bridges, stormwater drainage, parks, sporting fields, footpaths, cemeteries, waste transfer and Council Facilities.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

- Carry out laboring duties as directed by supervisors

- Operate hand tools and small plant items on Council worksites

- Carry out Council prescribed and manufacture required checks, servicing and maintenance of plant and equipment

- Operate plant and equipment safely, legally, efficiently and competently

- Ensure appropriate use of all safety equipment, including PPE, signs, lights, barrier bollards and other traffic management equipment

- Provide timely and accurate reports to your supervisor regarding faults, operational characteristics, performance or plant equipment

What You’ll Bring

- Experience operating small plant and machinery

- WHS General Induction Card

- Current Class C manual drivers licence

- Physical ability to carry out the role





What We Offer

This is a Permanent Full time position (38 hours per week) starting at $1,118.30 (gross) + superannuation per week based on Band 1 Level 3, Grade 2 of the Local Government (State) Award 2026. You will enjoy one RDO every fortnight.
