Eco-Mentor (Disability/Adventure support worker)

Tribes Adventure Group is an outdoor adventure company that specialises in providing 1:1 mentoring, Day Activities and Adventure Camps for youth at risk, people with a disability and mental health participants. Our programs have an adventure-based approach to improving wellbeing and building resilience in our clients by utilising unique, therapeutic practices relating to:

Survival Skills
n
Life Skills Development
n
Sports, coaching and fitness
n
We are passionate about pushing our clients outside their comfort zone to provide them with the tools to be happy and successful members of the community.

About the Role
n
We are currently looking for casual Eco-Mentors to join our team who have a passion for working with people with a disability (primarily autism and mental health), youth at risk and disadvantaged demographics. While we cover areas from South Brisbane and the Gold Coast, we are currently looking for Eco-Mentors for the following areas in particular:
n
Northern Gold Coast Area/Southern Brisbane Area (Ormeau to Wynnum)
n
Applicants must be willing to be flexible with days/times, and there is the possibility of some weekend work.
n
Responsibilities
n
Provide 1:1 mentoring to Tribes participants to support them to reach their NDIS and/or other goals
n
Being prepared for all 1:1 mentoring sessions, such as having activity ideas and relevant resources
n
Participation and collaboration on group activities
n
Contribution to risk management and reduction whilst providing 1:1 or group supports
n

n
To be successful in this role, you will need exceptional interpersonal skills in order to provide mentoring support to individuals with a disability, youth at risk, people with a mental illness and disadvantaged demographics. You must act with integrity at all times and uphold the Tribes Adventure Group Code of Conduct; be reliable and consistent; and be able to assess and manage risk.

Highly developed practical skills working with vulnerable individuals
n
Relevant life experience that can be utilised for participant development
n
Ability to assess and work within company risk guidelines
n
Completion of internal training as part of the induction process, including Tribes Adventure Group specific courses
n
Commitment to ongoing Professional Development
n
Highly Desirable:
n
Qualifications in Disability, Youth Work, Community Services, Education or a related field; or qualifications in the wellbeing and fitness sectors
n
The applicant must also hold the following, or be willing to obtain them:
n
Current Driver's Licence
n
Current QLD Paid Blue Card / WWCC
n
NDIS Worker Screening Check
n
Current First Aid/CPR Certification
n
NDIS Worker Orientation Module
n
Infection Control Training
n
Right to work in Australia
n
