The Opportunity Sestra People are partnering with a boutique, Sydney-based consulting firm to find an experience Product Manager to join a key enterprise client across a Data Archival & Retention initiative, within Data Risk & Controls.

This is a hybrid role out of Macquarie Park, 3 days per week, on a 6-month contract, with high potential to extend.

Day rate between $650-800 per day are on offer, with potential flexibility for the right candidate.

The Role A large, regulated Australian organisation is looking for a hands‑on data delivery leader to take ownership of its data risk and controls initiatives, starting with data retention and archival.

The work sits across core operational platforms that many parts of the business rely on. A change in one place affects a lot of people, so this role is about keeping the plan, the people and the risks moving together.

This is a product role with a heavy delivery focus.



You'll spend more time running plans, dependencies and stakeholders than shaping a commercial roadmap. If that sounds like your kind of week, read on.

What You Will Do

Own and drive data risk and control initiatives from planning through to implementation

Lead a small multidisciplinary squad (data analysis, engineering, architecture and solution design) and coordinate the delivery teams around it

Run stand‑ups and keep clear plans, priorities, dependencies, risks and decisions in front of everyone

Act as product and business‑analysis lead, turning business, regulatory and control requirements into practical delivery outcomes

Take ownership of data‑retention coordination and support the management of data archives

Work with the central Risk function and governance stakeholders so changes meet organisational expectations

Get into the detail of data analysis and solution design with technical specialists

Engage stakeholders across the affected platforms, assess impacts early and resolve issues before they grow

What You Will Bring

Proven experience as a Data Product Manager, Data Delivery Lead, Data Program Manager or similar data‑focused delivery role

Strong project management: planning, squad leadership, dependency management and coordination across multiple teams

Experience delivering change in a large,



complex enterprise with tightly integrated systems

Excellent stakeholder management across business, technology, data, architecture, engineering and risk

Enough technical literacy to work credibly with analysts, engineers, architects and solution designers

The ability to turn business, regulatory and control requirements into structured delivery plans

Highly Regarded

Data retention, archival or records‑management experience

Exposure to data governance, data risk, data controls or data quality frameworks

Delivery experience in a complex, regulated setting such as financial services, insurance, utilities or telecommunications

Working SQL, enough to support or validate analysis

Python is welcome but not required

A clear, credible delivery plan with agreed priorities, ownership and decision‑making rhythms

Retention and archival work tracking to milestones, with risks and dependencies actively managed

Business, technology, risk and data stakeholders aligned on scope and impact

The current leadership team confidently handing day‑to‑day ownership of the projects over to you
