Join a highly regarded Federal Government agency that delivers essential services to the Australian community. Operating within a complex and highly regulated environment, the organisation is committed to service excellence, integrity and continuous improvement. Working as part of a collaborative HR team, you will play a key role in maintaining payroll operations.

Your current role

Working closely with an external payroll provider, you will oversee payroll processing, resolve complex payroll matters, ensure compliance with employment conditions and legislation, and contribute to payroll system improvements and organisational change initiatives. Acting as the organisation's payroll subject matter expert, you will take ownership of payroll governance, quality assurance and stakeholder management within a managed payroll environment.

Key responsibilities

- Lead the day-to-day management and oversight of payroll operations within a managed services environment.
- Coordinate payroll processing activities and perform quality assurance of payroll outputs and calculations.
- Investigate and resolve complex payroll, data and system issues.
- Complete payroll reconciliations, audits and compliance activities.
- Maintain payroll and employee data integrity and support system testing, upgrades and enhancements.
- Prepare workforce reports and provide analysis to support organisational decision-making.
- Provide advice to employees and managers regarding payroll,

employment conditions and entitlements.

What you'll need to succeed

- Demonstrated experience delivering end-to-end payroll services, ideally with Aurion and within Australian Public Service/Federal Government Agency
- Experience working with outsourced or managed payroll service providers.
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, employment conditions and Enterprise Agreement interpretation.
- Experience auditing payroll outcomes, maintaining data integrity and managing payroll compliance activities.
- Well-developed analytical and reporting skills with the ability to identify trends and resolve issues.
- Strong stakeholder management and customer service capabilities.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance.

What you'll get in return This is an excellent opportunity to join a purpose-driven Federal Government organisation on a 12-month fixed-term contract based in Yallambie. Offering a collaborative team environment, flexible work practices and the opportunity to contribute to a significant payroll transition project, this role will suit an experienced payroll professional seeking both operational responsibility and project exposure.
