The opportunity

We have an exciting short term temporary prospect for a Senior Programs Officer to join the EPA’s Programs Branch, delivering the Together on Country Program and assisting with the Broken Hill Environmental Lead Program (BHELP).

About you

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

- Demonstrated cultural competency, including understanding of Aboriginal community roles, responsibilities and structures, and use of culturally appropriate communication and engagement methods.

- Sound judgement, diplomacy and confidentiality when handling sensitive or controversial matters.
- Ability to work with autonomy and be accountable for the quality, integrity and accuracy of advice.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex projects and programs, including planning, governance, stakeholder management, risk management and deliver of outcomes with agreed timeframes.

- Highly developed stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes and prepare clear, concise executive, Ministerial and governance documentation
- Demonstrated ability to apply cultural safety principles in engagement with Aboriginal communities, ensuring interactions, decision-making processes and program delivery respect community protocols, values and lived experience.
- Willingness and ability to travel to regional and remote communities as required.

- Current NSW driver licence.

Essential Requirements: This is an identified role under Section 14(d)



of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, where Aboriginality is an essential requirement.

Applicants must be of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander decent, identify as an aboriginal and or Torres strait islander person and be accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Community.

About the team

The Senior Programs Officer will play a central role in a targeted project to continue positive partnerships with Community and key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

- Lead the implementation and ongoing delivery of the Together on Country program, ensuring milestones, deliverables and outcomes are achieved.
- Lead the development and implementation of an evaluation and outcomes measurement framework for the Together on Country program, including monitoring, reporting and continuous improvement activities.
- Provide strategic advice and program planning, governance and project coordination to support the successful delivery of the Together on Country priorities.
- Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with the NSW Aboriginal Land Council, government agencies and internal EPA teams to achieve shared outcomes.
- Prepare high-quality, strategic communications and briefing materials, tailored to a range of audiences.
- Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery within agreed timeframes, budgets and governance requirements.
- Support the broader Programs team by leading or contributing to priority initiatives, including the delivery of the Broken Hill Environmental Lead Program (BHELP)



and other strategic projects as required.
