Primary objective

Oversee and manage safety and security systems across the Northern Territory (NT) youth detention facilities, including system support,

data integrity, storage and tracking, as well as the various information and operational technology functions required to ensure these security systems are always in good working order.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Sustain, enhance and manage critical on-premises security system infrastructure across the NT’s youth detention and bail facilities,

including electronic security management systems, access control and intruder detection, video surveillance systems (CCTV),



electronic key safe systems and intercom systems.
1. Carry out the timely installation, support, maintenance and replacement of network equipment, including both hardware and software,

to ensure systems continue to run efficiently and securely.
1. Proactively develop and maintain professional and collaborative working relationships, networks and partnerships with operational

and senior managers, and staff in the Branch and Division.
1. Contribute to sensitive enquiries and investigations, including independently undertaking preliminary or detailed investigations to

provide evidenced based reports, briefings and evidentiary information, as required, to assist the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent and NT Police for use in matters appearing before the Supreme and Magistrate Courts.
1. Provide positive day to day support and mentoring to the Security Systems Officer, and as the functional and subject matter expert,

share information and provide authoritative advice and timely feedback to facilitate the delivery of effective and responsive security system support services.
1. Provide remote and in person out of hours system and incident management support as required to ensure the security systems

continue to operate functionally.





Selection criteria

Essential

1. Hands-on experience in an Information Technology and Operational Technology environment, e.g. working with security frameworks,

electronic security management systems, identity management access, enterprise operating systems, firewalls, server and endpoint protection, email security, secure software testing techniques.
1. Proven experience in a similar senior role with responsibility for identifying potential vulnerabilities, implementing robust security

measures, including security infrastructure and architecture, security controls and standards, preferably working in a highly regulated or detention centre environment.
1. Demonstrated experience developing collaborative stakeholder relationships and working successfully with private contractors,

vendors and service providers.
1. Experience managing a high-volume workload within tight deadlines across several stakeholder groups.

Desirable

1. Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline such as Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology (Network Technology)

or similar.
1. Certificate or Diploma in Engineering and/or Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Communications.
