Senior Technical Advisor

- Salary Range: $133,348 - $146,945pa + super
- Parramatta Location with hybrid working arrangements available
This role sits within the Revenue NSW Technical Advisory Team, with a focus on Land Tax matters. However, a talent pool will be established from suitable applicants to fill future Senior Technical Advisor vacancies that may arise within the Technical Advisory Branch across other tax streams. About the team The Technical Advisory team provides expert legislative and technical advice across state taxation and revenue matters, helping ensure consistent decision-making, compliance, and positive outcomes for the people of NSW. This is a unique opportunity to work on complex, high-profile matters that influence policy, revenue administration, and legislative interpretation across Revenue NSW. Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical and legislative advice on complex state taxation and revenue matters.
- Research, interpret and apply legislation, case law and legal precedents to support decision-making.
- Develop technical guidance materials, revenue rulings, practice notes and procedural instructions.
- Investigate and analyse complex transactions, compliance issues and emerging risks.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to resolve contentious matters and negotiate outcomes.
- Contribute to policy development and recommend improvements to legislative and operational frameworks.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Strong experience interpreting and applying legislation, legal precedents and policy frameworks.
- Exceptional analytical, research and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex issues.
- The ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and provide well-reasoned written advice.
- Experience building productive relationships and influencing stakeholders in sensitive or complex environments.
- Strong judgement, attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Experience in taxation, revenue, regulatory, legal, compliance, policy or advisory environments will be highly regarded.
