A hands-on customer role for someone who knows their way around a trade counter

SPITWATER is looking for a practical, switched-on Service Centre Specialist to join our Brisbane team. This is a front-line trade counter role working directly with customers who come into our Service Centre for machines, spare parts, accessories, chemicals, servicing and repairs.

You’ll help customers work out what they need, look up parts, support service bookings, prepare quotes, assist with machine handovers and keep things moving between the customer, workshop, warehouse and sales team.

If you’ve worked in a trade counter, parts environment, automotive, machinery, industrial equipment, pumps, tools, agricultural equipment or a similar hands-on customer role, this could be a great fit.

You don’t need to know SPITWATER equipment on day one. We can teach you the products.

What we do need is someone who enjoys dealing with trade and commercial customers, isn’t afraid to ask questions and takes ownership of getting people the right answer.

About SPITWATER

SPITWATER is a trusted Australian name in commercial and industrial cleaning equipment. We supply high-performance pressure cleaners, space heaters, commercial vacuums, scrubber dryers, chemicals, accessories and service support to customers across industries including transport, agriculture, manufacturing, construction, government, food and beverage, contract cleaning and trade services.

Our equipment is built for serious work and our customers rely on us for practical advice, reliable equipment, spare parts and ongoing service support.

About the role

As a Service Centre Specialist, you’ll be one of the key people customers deal with when they walk through the door at our Brisbane Service Centre. The role combines trade counter sales, parts support, customer service, service intake, showroom support and machine handovers.

One customer might need a replacement hose or fitting. The next may need help identifying a part from a machine diagram. Another might be dropping off a pressure cleaner for repair or picking up a new machine and needing to know how to operate it.

Your job is to understand what they need, help where you can and get the right people involved when something requires more technical input.

This isn’t a territory sales role and you won’t be expected to chase cold leads or manage a portfolio of accounts.

It’s about looking after the customers who come into the Service Centre, converting genuine counter opportunities and helping the whole operation run smoothly.

What you’ll be doing

- Serving trade, commercial and walk-in customers at the Service Centre
- Helping customers with machines, spare parts, accessories, chemicals, servicing and repairs
- Asking the right questions to understand what the customer is trying to do
- Looking up and identifying spare parts using parts lists, diagrams and internal systems
- Working with our technicians and product team when more technical advice is needed
- Preparing quotes and following up suitable Service Centre enquiries
- Providing approved pricing and product availability
- Taking in machines for service, repair or warranty assessment
- Recording accurate machine details, customer requirements and service notes
- Helping coordinate customer drop-offs and collections
- Supporting machine demonstrations and customer handovers
- Providing basic operator familiarisation when customers collect equipment
- Helping customers understand basic maintenance, accessories and chemical selection
- Keeping customer and enquiry records accurate in HubSpot and our business systems
- Working closely with technicians, warehouse, Customer Service and Account Managers
- Keeping the trade counter, showroom and customer areas clean, organised and ready for business
- Helping spot opportunities for accessories, chemicals, servicing and other products that genuinely suit the customer’s needs

You’ll probably enjoy this role if

- You like dealing with tradies, operators and commercial customers face to face
- You enjoy working out what part or product someone actually needs
- You’re comfortable around mechanical or technical products
- You’d rather solve a problem than simply pass it on
- You’re confident talking to customers on the counter and over the phone
- You can handle a busy environment where several things may be happening at once

- You follow jobs through and keep customers updated
- You’re happy working closely with technicians and warehouse staff
- You’re comfortable using computers and learning new systems
- You take pride in keeping your work area organised and professional
- You’re interested in learning how equipment works, not just memorising part numbers

What we’re looking for

Experience in one or more of the following would be highly regarded:
- Trade counter sales
- Parts sales or parts interpreting
- Automotive parts
- Machinery or industrial equipment
- Pumps, pressure cleaning or fluid handling equipment
- Agricultural or rural supplies
- Tools or trade equipment
- Service coordination
- Internal sales in a technical environment

You’ll also need:
- Strong customer service skills
- Confidence dealing with trade and commercial customers
- Good attention to detail
- A practical approach to problem solving
- Valuable organisation and follow-up habits
- The ability to learn technical products and parts systems
- Confidence using computer systems and CRM software
- A current unrestricted Australian driver licence
- A team-first approach

Formal parts or automotive qualifications would be useful, but they’re not essential. Practical experience and the right attitude matter just as much. Product and systems training will be provided.

Why join SPITWATER?

This is a varied role where you’ll work with real products, real customers and an experienced local team. You won’t be sitting in a call centre reading from a script.

You’ll be working alongside our technicians, warehouse team and sales people, learning our equipment and helping customers solve practical problems every day.

SPITWATER is also continuing to improve the way our Service Centres operate, so there’s an opportunity to help build better processes and a stronger customer experience as the business develops.

How to apply

If you’ve got experience on a trade counter, in parts, machinery, automotive, industrial equipment or another practical customer-facing environment, we’d like to hear from you. Please apply with your resume and a short cover letter outlining your relevant experience.

Please note: as part of our recruitment process, successful candidates will be required to complete a police check and pre-employment medical.
