About the Role

We're seeking a Senior Risk Support Analyst to lead proactive risk identification and resolution within our first line of defence. This is a full-time permanent opportunity to join the Central Risk Support team, where you'll drive advanced risk analysis, enhance risk management practices, and produce robust risk insights that shape our risk profile and reporting to Insurance Australia.

Reporting to the Manager Risk Support Operations, you'll be based in Toowong and play a critical role in embedding risk discipline across the organisation, ensuring our risk management framework is operationalised effectively and consistently.

What You'll Be Doing

As our Senior Risk Support Analyst, you'll be advancing our first line of defence capability. Your key responsibilities will include:

- Lead Risk Analysis & Insights: Conduct in-depth analysis of incident and issue data to identify trends, root causes, and systemic themes, translating findings into actionable insights for senior reporting.

- Guide Risk Reporting & Calibration: Ensure Line 1 risk reports are completed with rigour, aligned with central guidance, and contribute to calibration of the Insurance Australia risk profile.

- Enhance Quality Assurance & Processes: Lead QA reviews of Line 1 risk practices, identify gaps, and drive improvements in risk processes and controls.

- Systemic Issue Management: Design and implement proactive monitoring to identify and escalate systemic issues, ensuring alignment with group frameworks.

- Develop & Deliver Training: Design and deliver targeted training programmes on risk and obligation management to foster a strong risk culture.

- Coordinate Regulatory Change: Lead coordination for operationalising regulatory changes within Line 1, including impact assessments.

- Facilitate Community of Practice: Actively facilitate the Line 1 Risk Community of Practice to ensure a coordinated approach to risk management.

- Risk Reporting & Profile Monitoring: Lead reporting generation and provide strategic insights for high-quality Line 1 risk reporting.

- Other: Any other ad hoc duties as reasonably directed by your leadership team.

What Experience You'll Bring

Essential:

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to influence stakeholders and present complex information clearly to senior management

- Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills - ability to dissect complex problems, identify underlying issues, and propose strategic solutions

- Proven ability to drive initiatives independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver under pressure

- Outstanding stakeholder management - able to build effective relationships and collaborate across all levels





- Experience mentoring junior team members or contributing to capability building initiatives

Highly Desirable:

- Demonstrated proficiency with risk management systems (e.g., nLighten) for advanced analysis, reporting, and data integrity

- Experience conducting thematic reviews and identifying trends across large datasets

- Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau) or advanced Excel modelling

- Formal qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g., Commerce, Risk Management, Business) and/or relevant industry qualifications (e.g., GAICD, CRMA)

- Experience in a risk, compliance, or audit role within a complex, regulated environment - preferably financial services or insurance
