The Role The Bushland and Bushcare Officer is responsible for managing and implementing Urban Ecology programs in three key areas:

Remnant Vegetation Management – working to progress towards EAP targets

Bushcare Volunteer Program – Managing an active, effective and engaging Bushcare volunteer program that improves remnant vegetation and native habitat across Waverley LGA

Biosecurity – ensure that Council and residents comply with the NSW Biosecurity Act 2015, with delegations under this Act.

About You

Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in applied natural resource management, biodiversity conservation or land care operations





Previous experience in supervising bush regeneration contractors and Bushcare volunteers

Demonstrated understanding of bush regeneration and natural resource management in a local government context

Knowledge of vegetation and ecosystems in coastal and urban environments

Excellent time management skills, and experience in administering procurement, supplier performance, risks and variations

Demonstrated project management skills including scoping, scheduling, risk and financial management

Practical experience with risk and safety associated with bush regeneration and volunteer activities
