Service Desk Technician – Onsite Support
Location: Adelaide (10 mins from the CBD) Type: Full-time
About the Business
Auswide is a leading IT service provider based in South Australia, with over a decade of experience delivering end-to-end IT and security solutions. Our services include consulting, network cabling, managed services, phone systems, access control, video surveillance and more. At Auswide, culture is at the heart of everything we do. We’re proud of the supportive and friendly environment we’ve built, where collaboration and teamwork are valued just as much as technical expertise. While this role is based primarily at one of our client sites, you’ll remain an important part of the wider Auswide team, with access to experienced technicians for collaboration and escalation.
About the Role
We’re looking for someone who is interested in building a career in IT and enjoys helping people solve problems. You’ll be based at one of our client’s offices, around 10 minutes from the Adelaide CBD, where you’ll be their dedicated onsite IT support person.
Day to day, you’ll help staff with their IT issues, manage incoming support requests, keep track of outstanding jobs and work through problems as they come up.
You’ll be working independently while onsite, so we’re looking for someone who is comfortable taking responsibility for their work and communicating with users. That doesn’t mean we expect you to know everything though. You’ll have the wider Auswide technical team available whenever you need advice or need to escalate something.
This could be a great opportunity for someone early in their IT career who has a good technical foundation and is looking for an chance to learn, gain hands-on experience and grow within the industry.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Helping users with day-to-day IT problems and questions.
- Troubleshooting common computer, Microsoft 365, printing, network and software issues.
- Managing incoming support requests and keeping users updated.
- Taking ownership of issues and following them through to completion.
- Setting up and maintaining computers, user accounts and other IT equipment.
- Keeping track of IT assets and equipment.
- Identifying recurring problems or opportunities to improve the client’s IT environment.
- Keeping clear notes and records in our ticketing system.
- Working with the wider Auswide team when you come across something that needs more experience or specialist knowledge.
- Learning new technologies and gradually taking on more responsibility as your skills develop.
What We’re Looking For You don’t need to have years of IT experience to apply.
We’re more interested in finding someone who has a genuine interest in technology, enjoys problem solving and wants to build a career in IT.
You might already be working in an entry-level IT support role, have recently completed IT study or certifications,
or simply have a robust technical background and be looking for your first real opportunity in the industry.
Ideally, you’ll have some familiarity with areas such as:
- Windows PCs and general troubleshooting.
- Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Teams and user accounts.
- Basic networking concepts.
- Setting up computers, printers and other office technology.
Experience with Microsoft 365 administration, Intune, Exchange Online or SharePoint will be highly regarded. Microsoft certifications, IT qualifications or previous service desk experience are also helpful, but they aren’t essential if you can demonstrate the right attitude and technical aptitude.
More importantly, we’re looking for someone who:
- Enjoys helping people and can communicate clearly with non-technical users.
- Is curious and willing to learn.
- Is comfortable asking questions when they don’t know something.
- Can work through a problem logically.
- Takes ownership of their work rather than waiting for someone else to solve it.
- Is organised and can keep track of multiple tasks.
- Knows when to keep troubleshooting and when it’s time to ask for help.
- Is friendly, reliable and easy to work with.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must:
- Hold full working rights in Australia.
- Be able to obtain a Police Clearance and Working With Children Check if requested.
If you’re interested in IT but don’t tick every box above, we’d still encourage you to apply. We’re looking for the right person and attitude just as much as we’re looking for technical experience.
