About Ovum
Until 1993, women weren't required to be included in clinical trials. For decades, medicine was built on data that failed to properly account for women's bodies, symptoms and health outcomes. The consequences are still felt today, with millions of women waiting years for diagnoses and navigating a healthcare system that wasn't built with them in mind. That's why we built Ovum.
Founded by medical doctor and PhD candidate Dr Ariella Heffernan-Marks, Ovum is an intelligent women's health app that connects cycle data, hormones, symptoms, biometrics and lifestyle factors to help women better understand their health and advocate for themselves.
Our mission is to transform every woman's experience of healthcare, and our vision is a world where the gender health gap no longer exists.
Every symptom tracked and insight generated contributes to a growing longitudinal dataset on women's health, helping drive better research, products and healthcare outcomes for generations to come.
The Role
This is an opportunity to help build one of the most influential voices in women's health. At a time when millions of women are turning to social media to better understand their bodies and find answers that traditional healthcare often overlooks, you'll assist in creating content that educates, empowers and sparks conversations that matter.
You'll support Ovum's brand and presence across multiple platforms including Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube and podcast, producing engaging, culturally relevant content that women genuinely want to watch, save and share. Your work won't just build an audience; it will help women feel seen, understood and more confident advocating for their health.
What You'll Own
- Support Ovum's content and social strategy: Assist in executing campaigns from idea to publication across all owned channels — social, podcast, YouTube, website and email — tracking performance.
- Champion Ovum's voice: Apply our tone of voice to turn complex women's health topics into engaging, culturally relevant content people genuinely want to watch.
- Create content in-house: Hands-on production is core to the role — film, edit, design and package high-performing content across video, static and written formats.
- Maintain a repurposable content engine: Assist with repeatable series and systems that maximize assets across channels, keeping the content calendar updated spanning evergreen, campaigns, launches and partnerships.
- Support UGC and influencer activities: Help source creators, manage outreach, and assist with coordination and campaign execution.
- Stay ahead of culture and experiment relentlessly: Spot trends before they peak, test new hooks and formats, and use performance data to refine what works.
- Build and engage our community: Turn audience insights into content and foster a trusted community of Ovum advocates.
- Collaborate across the business: Work closely with the Founder, Product, Clinical, Partnerships and Marketing to keep Ovum's expert voice consistent while bringing current ideas to the table.
Does This Sound Like You?
- You live and breathe social. You don't just consume content, you analyse it, you instinctively understand what earns attention, what gets shared and why some content takes off while others don't.
- You're deeply embedded in culture, spot trends before they peak and are constantly testing new ideas and formats.
- You have experience creating content for a brand,
personal account or community, and understand how to engage audiences authentically.
- You're an exceptional storyteller with strong editing skills, confident filming and self-editing in CapCut or similar, with a sharp sense of brand, tone of voice and how packaging and iteration turn good ideas into great content.
- You're comfortable both behind and in front of the camera. Whether you're interviewing someone, presenting to camera or jumping into content yourself, you're confident creating authentic, engaging videos.
- You're organised, eager to learn, and love getting hands-on with filming, scheduling, and community management.
- Most importantly, you care deeply about health and wellbeing and are energised by the opportunity to build one of Australia's most influential women's health brands from the ground up.
What Success Looks Like
- In 12 months: You're a key contributor to Ovum's content engine, seamlessly coordinating social publishing, asset creation, and community engagement across all channels.
- In your first 30 days: You've onboarded into Ovum's brand guidelines, tone of voice, and workflows, and started supporting day-to-day content creation and scheduling.
- By the end of day 60: You are independently managing content execution, filming/editing short-form video, scheduling posts, and engaging with our online community.
- By the end of day 90: You are proactively bringing new content ideas to the team, helping streamline asset production, and supporting creator outreach initiatives.
