Position Overview:
As our Software Engineer, you will focus on implementing core C++ gameplay logic and connecting backend systems to UI assets in Unreal Engine. Working across C++ and Blueprints, you will handle turn-based feature integration, system hookups, and routine bug fixing.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Implement clean, functional C++ code for core gameplay features tailored specifically to our turn-based strategy mode.
- Focus on hooking up backend C++ systems to visual assets created by our UI team using UE Blueprints (just to be explicitly clear, creating UI art is not required, only wiring up backend logic to finished visual components).
- Apply strong debugging and problem-solving skills to track down, diagnose, and fix issues.
- Assist with Unreal Engine UI performance and responsiveness optimisation down the line.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Solid grasp of core C++, object-oriented programming, and data structures, with a focus on writing clean, readable code.
- Hands-on experience working with Unreal Engine, specifically exposing C++ systems to Blueprints and binding gameplay logic to UMG UI assets.
- Knowledge of UE UI optimisation.
- Skilled in bug fixing, with the ability to step through code, read logs, and trace issues across both C++ and Blueprint layers.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly and seek guidance when needed.
- Excellent collaboration, teamwork and communication skills.
- Have a can-do with the ability to turn a negative into a positive, no problem is too great.
Bonus Points!
- Understanding of or having worked on turn-based strategy games.
