About the internship

We’re looking for a Software Development, Computer Science, IT or related student who wants to move beyond university projects and gain hands-on experience working with real business systems.

This is a 4-month Software Development Internship where you’ll work on active development projects across our eCommerce business.

Rather than spending your internship observing from the sidelines, you’ll be given ownership of clearly defined projects and problems, with support and guidance from our team.

Depending on your experience, you may contribute to applications, portals, integrations, automation tools, databases and improvements to the software platforms we use every day.

Our approach to training is based on responsibility, trust and communication.

We’ll give you room to investigate problems, propose solutions and take ownership of your work. In return, we expect you to communicate proactively, ask questions when needed and keep the team informed about progress, challenges and next steps.

What you’ll be working on

- Developing and improving web applications, portals and internal business tools
- Working on front-end and back-end development projects
- Building and maintaining functionality using technologies such as Python, Vue.js, Laravel and MySQL
- Working with APIs and integrations between different business platforms
- Supporting development around our eCommerce environment
- Investigating technical problems and proposing practical solutions
- Working with databases, data flows and application logic




- Using GitHub and version control as part of the development process
- Testing, debugging and improving existing functionality
- Documenting your work so projects can be maintained and developed further
- Exploring opportunities for automation and more efficient business processes
- Taking responsibility for defined development projects from initial problem through to testing and implementation

You won’t be working on hypothetical exercises. You’ll be contributing to real systems used within an established Australian eCommerce business.

What we’re looking for

We don’t expect an intern to know everything.

We are looking for someone who already has a solid technical foundation and is ready to put it into practice.

Ideally, you’ll have experience with some of the following:

- Python
- Vue.js
- MySQL
- Laravel
- Git and GitHub or another version control system
- APIs and system integrations
- HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- General web application development

Experience with an eCommerce platform such as Magento, Shopify or WooCommerce is a strong advantage, but not essential. More importantly, we’re looking for someone who:
- Enjoys solving technical problems
- Can investigate an issue rather than waiting for every step to be explained
- Takes responsibility for the work they agree to complete
- Communicates proactively when they have questions or encounter problems
- Is comfortable learning unfamiliar systems and technologies
- Has good attention to detail
- Can work independently while still collaborating closely with a team
- Wants to understand how software development works inside a real business

For someone who is proactive, technically curious and ready to take responsibility, there is plenty of scope to learn.

Practical details

Duration: 4 months

Commitment: Minimum 3 days or 24 hours per week

Location: Crows Nest, Sydney NSW

Office attendance: This is an in-person internship. You must be available to work regularly from our Crows Nest office. We do not offer fully remote internships.

Remuneration: Unpaid internship ; local travel costs covered

Placement: We particularly welcome students completing an approved internship or vocational placement as part of their university or education program.

Work rights: You must hold appropriate Australian work rights for the duration of the internship.

Start date: As soon as possible. We are ideally looking for someone who can start immediately, with 1 October 2026 as the latest possible commencement date.
