Firedoor is Australia’s only fully wood-fired restaurant and one of the country’s most distinctive dining experiences. Hidden in the backstreets of Surry Hills, Firedoor is built around a simple philosophy: cooking with fire, exceptional produce and respect for seasonality.

Led by Chef Lennox Hastie, the restaurant works instinctively with different woods, temperatures and techniques to create a constantly evolving menu that showcases outstanding Australian produce at its best.

What We’re Looking For

- A minimum of two years’ experience working as a Sommelier in a fine dining or hatted restaurant
- Solid wine knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for sharing that knowledge with guests
- A passion for wine, food and hospitality, with an interest in cocktails and broader beverage service
- Confident providing polished table service and working efficiently on the floor, including carrying three plates
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage naturally with a diverse range of guests





- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and remain composed during busy services
- Full Australian working rights
- Availability to work evenings and weekends

You’re passionate about wine and hospitality and enjoy creating memorable experiences for guests without making great service feel overly formal.

You’re curious, knowledgeable and keen to continue developing your understanding of wine, food and beverage. You take pride in the details, communicate confidently and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a high-performing restaurant team.

You’ll be self-motivated, reliable and professional, with a genuine desire to contribute to both the guest experience and the continued development of Firedoor’s beverage offering.
