Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced consultant, to join the Virtual Specialist Consult service

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our six main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.

About the Role:

The Virtual Specialist Consult (VSC) service is expanding specialist offerings, providing tele-video consultation with community-based clinicians. This position will aim to fast-track patient access to specialist advice, particularly for rural/remote patients, or for those with general practitioners wanting to manage their patients in the community supported by expert advice. VSC welcomes interest from any specialist clinician who believes there is value in offering this service in their area of expertise.





In particular we are looking for paediatric and adult specialists in dermatology, haematology, rheumatology, developmental medicine (ADHD) and psychiatry.

This position is responsible for:

- Providing one-off consultations and linking into community services for patients referred by Virtual Emergency Department from rural and regional locations
- Providing expert advice to community healthcare providers to allow care to be managed in the community.

To be successful in this role you will have:

Essential

- Medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Undergraduate or postgraduate medical degree is essential
- Appropriate specialty qualifications such as Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent is essential
- Demonstrated effective communication skills utilising a Telehealth system

Experience

- Experience in specialty management
- Experience in virtual care delivery;
- Demonstrate commitment to quality and safety and strategies to address service access.
