To provide clinical care under supervision and acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfy relevant specialist college and medical board requirements in order to practice as a specialist. The Fellowship will aim for the selected applicant to become proficient in all aspects of spinal surgery including trauma and elective.

About You Clinical sessions There are multiple weekly all day operating session at PAH, with consultant supervision. The fellow and the unit registrar will attend each morning and each afternoon session and first assistant/supervisor operator positions are shared equitably between the registrar and fellow. Out of hours trauma/acute surgery is undertaken as required.

There are multiple new and review outpatient sessions throughout the week.

Daily ward rounds are held with fellow and training registrar and weekly consultant ward rounds are also undertaken.

Research Research undertaking is an integral part of the fellowship position. We have strong links with The Transitional Research Institute and The University of Queensland. It is the responsibility of each appointed fellow to complete at least one research project to the point of acceptance for peer-reviewed publication within the 12-month tenure of the position.

Certification of completion of the fellowship will be dependent on completion of this project to the satisfaction of the fellowship supervisors.



A podium at one national meeting during the fellowship is mandatory.

About Us Princess Alexandra Hospital: The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) is a tertiary health care centre providing care in most major adult specialties. We provide world class health care to Brisbane City's southern suburbs across emergency, medical, mental health and surgical services, including liver and kidney transplant.

The PAH as a major medical research precinct hosts Australia's most advanced medical research facility, the Translational Research Institute (TRI) as well as a new Clinical Research Facility for the discoveries made at TRI to be trialed in a safe clinical environment.
