Job Description

Byron District Hospital is seeking Registered Nurses to join its Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) team on a 14-week contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a specialised mental health setting in Byron, NSW, starting 26 October 2026 through 31 January 2027. Two positions are available, offering the chance to deliver care in a dynamic, supportive environment focused on both mental health and substance use support.

Preferred Requirements

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
n
- Demonstrated experience in mental health nursing practice
n
- Demonstrated experience in alcohol and other drugs (AOD) nursing
n
- Current Violence Prevention and Management (VPM) competency or willingness to obtain it
n
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team in a fast‐paced clinical environment
n

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent qualification with current AHPRA registration
n
- Post-graduate qualification or formal training in mental health nursing
n
- Formal training or certification in AOD nursing practice
n
