The role involves active supervision of students and activities both on and off campus, mentoring and supporting students throughout their schooling, and working closely with students, parents and the school to ensure their wellbeing and pastoral care needs are met.

Spinifex State College is a three campus educational facility.

Our Junior

Campus caters to years 7-9, Senior Campus years 10-12 and the Residential Campus houses all boarding students.

Our school aims to develop clever, skilled and creative learners. To achieve this aim, we provide students with access to quality curriculum programs and learning opportunities. We also inspire our students to explore their passions, harness their unique talents and fulfil their potential.

Each year our students who aspire to tertiary education achieve excellent results due to the support and readiness programs run by the school. Students who aspire to transition into work or Vocational Education and Training (VET) benefit by our close links with TAFE and industry.

Our strong links with Mount Isa Mines and other businesses have led to many authentic learning opportunities to prepare students for their chosen post-school pathways. This includes school-based apprenticeships/traineeships and work experience. Your Opportunity





- Be responsible for the provision of a safe and secure environment away from home for secondary students attending the residential campus as well as monitoring the health and wellbeing of these students.
- Liaise with the students, school and parents of students on a regular basis to recognise any educational, social, emotional or behavioural problems.

This is a 24-hour, seven-day boarding facility, with staff working a variety of weekday, weekend and active/awake night shifts during school terms. Previous experience working with adolescents, particularly in a boarding school environment, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

- Provide 24/7 pastoral care, supervision and support to residential students.
- Monitor student wellbeing, behaviour and health, managing issues and enforcing residential rules.
- Plan activities and support students' social, personal and educational development.
- Maintain a safe, caring and supportive residential workplace.
- Work with school staff and colleagues to support students' attendance, safety and wellbeing.

Mandatory Requirements

- Current First Aid certification
- Working with Children Blue Card
- Current drivers' licence
- Current LHR bus license, or a willingness to obtain one
