About the role The Supply Chain Manager contributes to the effective and effective running of the Byford site by managing the WMS system, coordinating ingredient purchasing for cost effective delivery, ensuring accurate inventories of all stocks are maintained, coordinating efficient storage of all inventories, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, and training and managing a supply chain team
Key responsibilities
- Manage inventory to ensure production requirements are met at all times
- Build relationships with suppliers to ensure cost effective procurement of raw ingredients, packaging and warehouse equipment
- Assist with annual negotiation of key raw materials, ingredients, packaging and product for resale
- Manage all aspects of pallet management systems
- Develop and lead an effective supply chain team, including one office based and one warehouse based staff member
- Coordinate cyclic physical stock counts for all stocks on site, including bulk stocks.
- Track and reconcile bulk wheat inventory held on site and within CBH
- Investigate inventory stock outages and resolve in a timely manner
- Administer wheat contracts and track drawdowns against contracted volumes

- Minimum 3–5 years experience in inventory or warehouse management
- An understanding of Quality Management Principles and delivery
- An understanding of food production theory and practice
- Sound knowledge of Warehousing theory and practice
- Sound knowledge of Food Safety (HACCP) principles
- Knowledge of business principles and experience in areas of quality management systems, customer focus and results driven performance
- Sound knowledge of computer-based stock control
- Desirable: Experience with a food based manufacturing plant
- Desirable: Experience with the operations of a busy warehouse and distribution centre
- Desirable: Supply chain or procurement qualification (e.g. CIPS or equivalent)
