Bulk Nutrients is an Australian-owned manufacturer and online retailer of sports nutrition and nutritional supplements. From our facilities in southern Tasmania, we manufacture and dispatch an extensive range of products to customers throughout Australia.

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Supply Chain & Procurement Manager to lead our procurement, inventory planning and international supply activities.

This is a critical role in our business. You will be responsible for ensuring raw materials, ingredients and packaging are available when required, while controlling inventory, reducing supply risk and achieving the best possible commercial outcomes.

The right person will combine strong analytical and planning capability with excellent supplier relationships, disciplined attention to detail and confident commercial negotiation skills.

What you’ll be responsible for

- Own the procurement and supply planning process for ingredients, raw materials, packaging and other critical supplies.

- Lead, support and develop the Procurement Officer, setting clear priorities, allocating work and ensuring purchasing activities, supplier follow-up and recordkeeping are completed accurately and on time.

- Maintain appropriate stock levels to keep products available while avoiding unnecessary overstocking, expiry risk and within working-capital requirements.

- Use Cin7 Core to manage purchasing, inventory information, lead times, supplier data and stock requirements accurately.

- Monitor demand, production requirements, supplier lead times, safety stock and incoming orders to identify potential shortages before they affect production or customers.

- Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with Australian and international suppliers.

- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms within approved parameters, including minimum order quantities, payment terms, freight arrangements and supply commitments.

- Optimise order quantities, shipment consolidation and freight arrangements to reduce total landed costs without creating excessive inventory.

- Coordinate international freight, customs clearance, import permits and associated shipping and regulatory paperwork, ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.

- Work closely with Production, Warehouse, Quality, Finance and Product Development/R&D; teams to align purchasing with forecasts, production plans and product launches.

- Monitor supplier performance, including pricing, quality, lead times, reliability and responsiveness.

- Develop contingency plans and alternative sources for business-critical materials and packaging.

- Identify supply-chain risks and respond quickly to delays, shortages, price movements or other disruptions.





- Analyse purchasing and inventory data and provide clear reporting on stock cover, shortages, savings, supplier performance and supply risks.

- Support new-product development by sourcing ingredients and packaging, obtaining samples and pricing, and confirming supplier capability and lead times.

- Travel to Asia/Europe approximately once every 12–18 months to visit suppliers, assess capability, strengthen relationships and identify sourcing opportunities.

What we’re looking for

You will be a practical, commercially focused supply-chain professional who takes ownership and follows issues through to completion. You will understand that both stock shortages and excessive inventory have significant consequences and will be comfortable balancing availability, cost, lead time and risk based on agreed parameters.

You will ideally bring

- At least five years’ experience in procurement, supply chain, inventory planning or international sourcing.

- Experience in a management-level supply-chain or procurement position, preferably within food, FMCG, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, supplements or another high-volume product setting.

- Experience supervising and developing staff, with the ability to delegate effectively while remaining actively involved in day-to-day procurement and inventory management.

- The ability to work constructively across teams, establish clear process expectations and resolve issues with colleagues outside your direct reporting line.

- Demonstrated experience sourcing products, ingredients, raw materials or packaging internationally as well as domestically.

- Strong working knowledge of international freight, customs processes, import permits and shipping documentation.

- Experience coordinating full-container-load shipments and consolidating orders to reduce freight and landed costs.

- Strong inventory planning skills, including demand forecasting, safety-stock management, reorder points and management of long supplier lead times.

- Practical experience improving inventory accuracy through effective transaction controls, stock counts, discrepancy investigation and corrective action, preferably in an environment with batch-tracked and shelf-life-sensitive materials.

- Demonstrated commercial negotiation skills and a record of delivering sustainable savings without compromising quality or continuity of supply.

- Experience using Cin7 Core is preferred.



Experience with a comparable inventory or ERP system will also be considered where you can demonstrate the ability to become proficient in Cin7 Core quickly.

- Advanced Excel and data-analysis skills.

- An exceptionally high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving capability.

- The ability to identify risks early, establish priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-moving environment.

- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.

- The confidence to build constructive, long-term relationships with suppliers while holding them accountable for performance.

- The ability and willingness to travel internationally, primarily to Asia, approximately once every 12–18 months.

- A positive attitude and enjoy working as part of a vertically integrated business where each business area supports the others to succeed.

A qualification in supply chain management, procurement, logistics, commerce or a related discipline would be well regarded. CIPS, APICS/ASCM or similar professional certification would also be advantageous.

Success in this role will be demonstrated through:

- Measurable, sustainable management of total supply costs, considering purchase price, freight, stockholding and expiry risk without compromising quality or continuity of supply.

- Reliable availability of ingredients, packaging and other critical supplies, reducing or eliminating supply-related production interruptions.

- Accurate purchasing and planning data in Cin7 Core, with inventory discrepancies identified early and resolved collaboratively.

- Improved forecasting and visibility of future supply requirements.

- Strong supplier performance and well-developed contingency options for business-critical materials.

- Reduced levels of obsolete, slow-moving and excess stock.
