Survivor Peer Support Advocate
Locations: Peninsula | Dandenong Ranges | Casey | Monash
Commitment: 4 hours per month – two 2-hour Saturday sessions, with ongoing peer connection within agreed boundaries. Setting up and managing communications with the group.
This is a volunteer position. Your role is to help build and grow the WedVs Survivor Alliance within your local community, creating a protected space where survivors can connect, support one another and know they are not alone.
About WedVs
WedVs (Workplace, Education, Domestic, Violence, Solutions) is the first violence consultancy in Australia. We work to create safer workplaces, education environments and communities affected by workplace, domestic and family violence.
We are launching a Survivor Peer Support Program across four local areas.
About the role
We are looking for people with lived experience who have undertaken their own healing journey and are ready to support other survivors.
A background in mental health, peer support and/or case management will be highly regarded.
But more than qualifications, it’s the person that matters.
You’re outgoing, warm and personable. You connect with people easily,
make others feel comfortable and genuinely enjoy bringing people together.
People are your superpower.
If you have the ability to listen, connect without judgement and make someone feel seen, heard and welcome, we want to hear from you.
You will:
- Provide a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space.
- Listen and connect with other survivors.
- Share your experience when appropriate.
- Help reduce isolation and build connection.
- Share information about support services when needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and healthy boundaries.
Sessions will generally be held in a local community setting, such as a park or cafe's.
We are looking for people who:
- Have lived experience of domestic and/or family violence.
- Have done their own healing and feel ready to support others.
- Can genuinely listen without judgement.
- Respect that every survivor's journey is different.
- Want to make a positive difference.
