Job Description

Our client is an established construction business specialising in quality new-build projects across Sydney. They are seeking an experienced Leading Hand Carpenter to join their team and help manage day-to-day site operations.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can lead by example, coordinate a small team and maintain high standards of quality and safety.

n

Working closely with the Site Manager, you will lead and support carpenters, labourers, apprentices and trades while also carrying out hands-on carpentry and building duties.

n

Your responsibilities will include:

n

- Leading and supporting a small site team
n
- Undertaking general carpentry and building duties
n
- Coordinating daily site activities and ensuring deadlines are met
n
- Reading and working from current plans and drawings
n
- Setting out works, gridlines and levels accurately
n
- Monitoring workmanship, quality and productivity
n
- Coordinating trades and maintaining an organised worksite
n
- Operating tools, plant and equipment safely
n
- Assisting with site setup and pack-down
n
- Participating in toolbox talks and site communication
n
- Identifying and addressing WHS hazards
n
- Ensuring SWMS,



PPE and safety procedures are followed
n
- Managing materials, tools and equipment
n
- Supporting and mentoring apprentices and team members
n

About You

n

To be considered for this position, you must have a minimum of 2 years' experience as a Leading Hand Carpenter, senior carpenter or in a similar construction leadership role.

n

- You will also have:
n
- Certificate IV in Carpentry and Joinery
n
- Class C Driver's Licence
n
- White Card – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry
n
- Minimum 2 years' relevant construction experience
n
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate a small team
n
- Supervisory accreditation or relevant supervisory experience
n
- Strong understanding of WHS and secure work practices
n
- Ability to read plans and accurately set out works
n
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
n
- Excellent communication and a proactive approach
n
- Highly regarded: Experience or licences in Bobcat, excavator, dogman/crane operation, traffic control or site setup, plus a First Aid Certificate.
