About the Role

Gold Coast University Hospital is seeking an experienced and dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist – Forensics to join its specialist forensic mental health service. This position focuses on delivering high-quality psychiatric care to individuals involved with the criminal justice system, including those requiring assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation in secure and community settings.

Key responsibilities include:

- Conducting comprehensive forensic psychiatric assessments and risk evaluations
- Developing and implementing treatment plans for patients in secure inpatient units and community programs
- Providing expert advice to courts, correctional facilities, and legal stakeholders
- Collaborating within multidisciplinary teams to ensure secure, evidence-based care
- Supervising junior medical staff and contributing to education and training initiatives
- Supporting service development, clinical governance, and culturally safe practices
