Mermaid Waters Vet Surgery is looking for an additional dog groomer! We are currently booked through until November!
n
The clinic is open Monday–Saturday, so flexible schedule can be negotiated within these days.
n
Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years' experience as a dog groomer (all breed clips/styles), OR have recently completed a grooming course and be able to work autonomously.
n
If you're a vet nurse looking for some variety, we may be able to offer you a mix of nursing days and grooming days.
n
What you'll be doing as a groomer at Mermaid Vet
n
n
- Conduct consultations to understand owners' expectations, assess each dog, explain what can and can't be achieved, and tailor a plan that works for everyone.
n
- Provide grooming advice to help owners maintain their dog's coat between visits.
n
- Bathing, blow-drying, nail trims and style grooms (nurses handle anal gland expressions).
n
- Maintain cleaning standards in the grooming room.
n
- Let owners know when their dog is ready to be collected.
n
n
What we're looking for
n
n
- A groomer with a passionate, friendly disposition.
n
- Someone who handles animals with care and affection.
n
- Your own grooming equipment (hydrobath, table and shampoo are supplied).
n
- Experience grooming all styles/breeds.
n
- A minimum of 6-8 dogs per day depending on size/style.
n
n
What we offer
n
n
- A negotiable wage based on experience and what you're looking for from the role. The position will initially be offered on a casual basis, with terms open for renegotiation after 6 months — whether that's moving toward your own business within our space (higher earning potential), staying on as a casual, or moving to permanent part-time.
n
- A large, ready-made client base from our veterinary clinic plus our existing grooming clients.
n
- Our nursing team handles your bookings and payments.
n
- Discounted veterinary services for your own pets.
n
- Work-life balance on your terms.
n
