This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate counsellor to support children, young people and families impacted by trauma, sexual assault and abuse.

Working within a highly skilled and supportive clinical team, you will provide trauma-informed therapeutic support to children, young people and their families while contributing to prevention, education and community awareness initiatives.

About the role:

You will join a passionate multidisciplinary team delivering specialist trauma-informed counselling to children, young people and families.

This role requires advanced clinical skills, a strong understanding of child development and trauma, and the ability to work collaboratively with families, schools, community services and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include

- Deliver trauma-informed assessment, counselling and therapeutic interventions for children and young people impacted by trauma and sexual abuse
- Provide counselling and support to non-offending parents, carers and family members
- Deliver group programs, psychoeducation and protective behaviours workshops
- Support young children presenting with sexualised behaviours through advocacy and therapeutic interventions
- Maintain accurate and timely case records and reporting requirements
- Participate in clinical supervision, reflective practice and continuous quality improvement activities
- Build collaborative relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Participate in community engagement and local interagency networks
- Promote culturally secure, inclusive and person-centred service delivery for all clients

About the service:

Our Trauma and Sexual Assault Counselling (TASAC) program provides specialist therapeutic support to children and young people aged up to 24 years who have experienced trauma, including:

- Sexual assault and sexual abuse
- Domestic and family violence
- Interpersonal harm and coercive control
- Accidents and disasters
- Other complex traumatic experiences

The program also supports non-offending parents, carers and family members to strengthen protective relationships and promote children's recovery and safety.

In addition, TASAC delivers:

- Early intervention support for children under 10 displaying concerning sexualised behaviours
- Protective behaviours education programs
- Therapeutic group programs for children, young people and caregivers
- Community education and sector consultation

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or a related discipline
- Current registration, membership or accreditation with a relevant professional body (e.g. AASW, PACFA, ACA, AHPRA), or eligibility to obtain registration/membership
- 2 years experience providing counselling and therapeutic interventions to children, young people and families
- Demonstrated experience working with clients impacted by trauma, sexual assault, abuse and/or family violence
- Strong understanding of child development and child protection legislation
- Experience facilitating groups,



workshops or psychoeducational programs
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- Current NSW Working With Children Check
- National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Full Australian work rights
