We currently have an opportunity for a permanent, part-time Financial Assistant to join our passionate Worrells QLD team working 2.5-3 days per week in our Brisbane CBD Office.

The Role
As a Financial Assistant, you’ll support our insolvency teams with day-to-day operational tasks and file deliverables while developing your understanding of insolvency legislation, regulatory requirements and Worrells’ systems and processes.
From day one, you’ll be supported through structured training, hands-on file work and close mentoring from experienced professionals as you build strong technical, administrative and stakeholder management skills.
You may also have the opportunity to increase your working hours (subject to operational requirements) during the university semester breaks.
Your role will include
- Assisting insolvency team members with file management, correspondence, statutory forms, stakeholder notifications and general administration
- Saving, linking and maintaining incoming and outgoing correspondence, file notes and supporting documentation in Workbench
- Preparing creditor and debtor lists, updating stakeholder details and assisting with proofs of debt, dividend procedures and file finalisation tasks
- Conducting searches, compiling information and assisting with reviews of books and records, bank statements and financial information
- Supporting tasks relating to employees, employee entitlements and relevant insolvency processes where required
- Responding to stakeholder enquiries professionally and assisting with follow-ups by phone and email
- Phone calls to ATO and attending to tasks on ATO portal including:
- Following up actioning of correspondence
- Requesting votes for resolutions
- Preparation and lodgement of BAS
- Obtaining payment details and PRN’s
- Lodging complaints with relevant department
- Using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Worrells’ internal systems to complete tasks accurately and within required timeframes
This is a great opportunity for an undergraduate student studying towards a degree in Accounting, Commerce or equivalent, who is eager to build practical experience in insolvency and restructuring within a supportive professional services workplace.
About You
You’ll ideally
- Be studying towards a degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline
- Have strong attention to detail, organisation and time management skills
- Communicate professionally and courteously with internal and external stakeholders
- Be comfortable working with systems, data and documentation in a structured, process-driven environment
- Have sound Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook skills
- Bring a proactive, helpful attitude and a willingness to learn from experienced insolvency professionals
Previous insolvency experience is not required, we’ll provide the training, mentoring and support you need to succeed.
