East Coast Traffic Control is seeking a

TMI / Traffic Controller

to join our team in

Townsville QLD . This is a

casual position

that plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of both workers and the public at construction sites, roadworks, and other areas requiring traffic management. As a Traffic Controller, you will be responsible for directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic, implementing traffic control plans, and maintaining a safe work environment. This role is essential to our operations and directly contributes to the success of our projects and the wellbeing of all site personnel.

Key responsibilities

Direct and manage traffic flow at construction sites, roadworks, and other designated areas in accordance with approved traffic control plans

Set up and remove traffic control devices including cones, barriers, signs, and lighting equipment

Communicate with drivers and the public using hand signals, stop/slow signs, and radio communication to ensure compliance with traffic control instructions

Monitor site conditions and adjust traffic control measures as necessary to maintain safety standards

Maintain clear visibility of work areas and ensure all traffic control equipment is visible and properly positioned

Report hazards, incidents, and near misses to site supervisors and management

Comply with all relevant legislation, regulations, and company safety policies

Conduct pre-shift equipment checks and ensure all traffic control devices are in working order

Communicate effectively with site teams, contractors, and the public to facilitate safe traffic management

What we're looking for

Valid driver's license

Demonstrated experience working as a Traffic Controller or in a similar traffic management role

Strong understanding of traffic control principles, road safety regulations,



and relevant Australian Standards

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse groups

Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions for extended periods

Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high safety standards

Ability to work independently and as part of a teamHigh visibility clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE) compliance

Flexibility to work variable hours, including early starts and shifts as required by project schedules
