Melbourne's The Mulberry Group are bringing their first Brisbane venue to life at The Novotel, South Brisbane.

High Road Bar and Grill is on Cordelia Street, South Brisbane, and it’s here to become part of the neighbourhood. The name says it simply: Take the High Road. It’s aspirational without being aloof, grounded in Queensland produce, serious grill craft, and the kind of warm, unhurried hospitality that turns a first visit into a habit.

About the role

High Road is a neighbourhood grill and bar built around Queensland produce, fire-led cooking and warm, unhurried hospitality.

The Section

Waiter brings that promise to the table - looking after guests with confidence, personality and care. This is a hands-on floor role for an experienced waiter who can take ownership of a busy section from welcome to farewell. You will know your tables, guide guests through the menu, keep service moving and create the kind of genuine experience that turns a first visit into a habit.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare your section before service and take full ownership from welcome through to payment and farewell

- Manage multiple tables confidently while keeping service attentive, personal and well paced

- Take accurate orders, monitor courses and communicate clearly with the kitchen, bar and floor team

- Keep tables and service areas clean, organised and professionally presented

- Complete opening, closing and side-work duties thoroughly and support other sections when needed





- Welcome guests warmly, read the table and adapt your style to the occasion

- Build relationships with regulars and recognise returning and VIP guests

- Make thoughtful recommendations based on preferences, appetite and budget

- Know the High Road menu, Queensland produce, key ingredients and fire-led cooking techniques

- Speak confidently about wine, cocktails, beer, spirits and non-alcoholic drinks and suggest suitable pairings

About you

- Experience running your own section in a quality restaurant

- Robust restaurant-service skills and confidence managing a busy group of tables independently

- Genuine interest in food, wine, cocktails and hospitality
- The ability to explain menus and pairings clearly and make natural recommendations

- Current RSA certification

- Warm, confident, experienced, passionate and genuine

- Naturally engaging and able to make guests feel at ease

- Calm, organised and attentive during busy service

- Reliable, proactive, flexible and ready to help the team

- Proud of the details and accountable for their section

About us

High Road is a neighbourhood grill and bar built around Queensland produce, fire-led cooking and warm, unhurried hospitality. High Road has its own neighbourhood identity, but the role is employed by Accor through Novotel Brisbane South Bank. You will work within Accor's Heartist culture and the hotel's people, safety and business frameworks.
