THE ROLE

We are currently on the hunt for a Backhoe operator for our Dalby Waste & Recycling Centres.

Established in regional Queensland in 2008, Proterra Group is proud of our history supporting and strengthening communities across regional Australia.

We have over 90 employees and permanent offices in Toowoomba, Goondiwindi and Quilpie and 17 waste facilities we manage throughout regional Queensland.

Working with our Waste Management team, this is a casual position offering 24 hours per week minimum. Self motivation is a must!

Supported by the Waste Management team, you will be required to perform a broad range of Waste Facility operational tasks, including:

- Undertake daily pre-start check and maintenance on the plant item, in accordance with operator’s manual and daily pre-start form.
- Inspect waste in the push pit for resources and reusable items for transfer to either resource stockpiles or tip shop prior to pushing to and loading into bin(s).
- Load waste into bins and compact the waste in the bin with the appropriate attachment.
- Operation of Weighbridge as required with appropriate software usage
- Greet incoming customers and other users of the facility.
- Inspect and assess all incoming loads to ensure compliance with waste acceptance criteria for the site and determine the load source, i.e. residential or commercial.
- Advise customers of waste acceptance criteria wherever necessary and disseminate any other information provided by Council whenever appropriate.
- Assist customers with the purchase of items, including the answering of any customer questions.
- Enter necessary details into the point-of-sale system (where one is provided) for each sale and ensure sale receipts are provided to all customers.




- Cash handling and receipting of transactions from the sale of reusable/resalable items during the opening hours of the tip shop.
- Maintain cash floats and undertake reconciliation at the end of each day of trading.
- Direct traffic and customers at the resource recovery drop of area (outside of the tip shop) and the car park.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE To be considered for this role, you will be an experienced Backhoe operator, preferably with the following tickets, however these are not deal breakers and willingness to gain these tickets will be favoured:

- Backhoe/Loader Ticket
- Construction White Card, and
- First Aid Certificate

This position also requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check), current WH&S; Construction Induction Certificate (White) and current Manual Driver’s License. Any other site-specific training will be organised for you by Proterra Group.
