About the Role The Northern Territory Department of Corrections is seeking a motivated and strategic workforce development professional to lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of workforce capability initiatives across the organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence the development of a skilled, capable and future-focused workforce by driving innovative learning, development and capability strategies that support operational excellence and organisational performance.

Reporting to senior leadership, you will provide expert advice and leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of workforce capability and development initiatives. You will work closely with stakeholders across the department to identify current and emerging workforce needs and deliver sustainable solutions that strengthen organisational capability.

What you will be doing

- Developing and implementing workforce capability and development strategies aligned to organisational priorities.

- Leading workforce capability reviews, evaluations and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Undertaking training needs analyses and developing strategic workforce capability plans.

- Identifying core and technical competency requirements across the workforce.

- Monitoring and evaluating workforce development programs to ensure effectiveness and value for money.

- Establishing and maintaining partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, training providers and industry bodies.

- Providing advice on workforce trends, emerging issues and workforce data to support future workforce planning.

- Reviewing and enhancing systems, processes and reporting frameworks to support best practice workforce development outcomes.

- Leading and supporting a team to deliver high-quality workforce capability initiatives.





What we are looking for A strategic thinker with robust experience in workforce capability, learning and development, organisational development or workforce planning. You have a proven ability to influence stakeholders, analyse complex information and develop practical solutions that deliver measurable outcomes.

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

- Proven experience designing, implementing and evaluating workforce development strategies and programs.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

- Strong research, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

- Experience leading teams and implementing systems, procedures and performance reporting frameworks.

- A commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.

- Sound knowledge of adult learning principles and contemporary workforce development practices.

- The ability to build collaborative partnerships and influence organisational change.

- A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is desirable.

- Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Organisational Development, Learning and Development, Business, Education or a related discipline.
