Application Architect

We're partnering with a large, complex organisation seeking an experienced Application Architect to provide technical leadership across a predominantly Microsoft-based application environment.
This role will focus on application modernisation, lifecycle management and upgrade strategy, working across business-critical systems to define practical roadmaps and future-state architecture.

This is initial 12 month FTC with a significant (3-5 years) program of work following on.

Key responsibilities

- Provide architecture and technical direction across a large Microsoft-based application workplace.
- Lead application modernisation and lifecycle planning across Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server platforms.
- Define roadmaps for upgrading legacy environments to newer, supported Microsoft technologies.
- Assess existing applications, infrastructure dependencies and technical requirements to determine appropriate upgrade and migration pathways.
- Develop practical application roadmaps covering priorities, risks, dependencies and future-state recommendations.
- Work closely with application owners, infrastructure teams and other technical stakeholders to plan and deliver upgrades.
- Ensure modernisation activities minimise disruption to critical business services.




- Provide pragmatic architectural recommendations that balance technical requirements, risk and operational needs.

About you

You'll be an experienced Application Architect with a strong Microsoft technology background and demonstrated experience modernising complex application environments.
Ideally, you'll bring:

- Strong experience across Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience planning and delivering server, database and application upgrades or migrations.
- Solid application architecture, lifecycle management and modernisation experience.
- Experience assessing application dependencies and developing technology roadmaps.
- The ability to translate architecture strategy into practical, achievable upgrade plans.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, working across application, infrastructure and business teams.
- Experience within healthcare, clinical or other complex, business-critical application environments would be highly regarded.
