We are currently seeking a Junior Geologist - Open Pit to join a major mining operation based in Karratha, Western Australia.

This opportunity is ideally suited to a graduate or junior Geologist looking to further develop their experience in open-pit mining, grade control and production geology, with the potential to transition into an ongoing position following the initial 6-month contract.

The Prospect

Working on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth, you will support the Mine Geology team with daily grade control activities, geological mapping, sampling and ore identification within an operational open-pit environment.

You will work alongside experienced Geologists and Geotechnicians, providing technical support and assisting with hands-on pit activities when required.

Key Responsibilities

- Support daily open-pit grade control and production geology activities.
- Conduct geological mapping and assist with ore and waste identification.
- Assist with grade control drilling, sampling and geological data collection.
- Interpret geological information to support accurate ore boundary identification.
- Assist with grade control modelling, QA/QC and production reconciliation.
- Work closely with Geotechnicians, mining engineers and production teams.
- Provide hands-on support with pit geology activities during periods of operational demand or team leave.
- Maintain accurate geological records, databases and daily production reports.
- Ensure all activities comply with site safety procedures and operational standards.

About You

- Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.
- Graduate or junior Geologist with an interest in open-pit mining and grade control.




- Previous exposure to production geology, grade control or open-pit mining is highly regarded.
- Understanding of geological mapping, sampling and ore control principles.
- Experience with mining software such as Vulcan or Leapfrog is advantageous.
- Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to undertake hands-on fieldwork and work collaboratively within a site-based team.
- Current Australian driver's licence.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening.
- Fit Test Required (Clean Shaven)
