About the Role
This is an opportunity for an experienced Business Support Officer to join a fast-moving NSW Government environment and provide high-quality administrative, secretariat and workflow support.
Working closely with senior stakeholders and team members, you will coordinate meetings and governance documentation, manage diaries and correspondence, maintain business workflows and help ensure priorities progress within required deadlines. The position requires strong judgement, discretion and the ability to remain organised as priorities change.
The underlying role also involves supporting governance requirements, preparing correspondence and briefings, maintaining appropriate records and contributing to improved administrative processes.
- Position: Business Support Officer - $50-$65/hour + super
- Location: Orange
- Working Arrangement: Part-time
- Preferred Hours: 32.5 hours per week
- Daily Hours: 6-6.5 hours

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate secretariat activities, including meeting schedules, agendas, papers, minutes, action items and approval processes.
- Prepare, collate and distribute meeting packs and governance documentation within required deadlines.
- Manage shared and individual email inboxes, triaging requests and directing matters to appropriate stakeholders.
- Coordinate diary commitments, meetings and associated logistics to support efficient day-to-day operations.
- Prepare, format and review reports, correspondence, briefing material, presentations and meeting documentation.
- Monitor workflows, outstanding actions and approvals, following up stakeholders to support timely completion.
- Maintain accurate records, registers, electronic files and business information in accordance with government requirements.
- Respond to enquiries and resolve routine administrative matters while escalating sensitive or complex issues appropriately.
- Handle confidential and potentially sensitive information with discretion and sound judgement.
- Liaise with internal teams, senior stakeholders and external parties to coordinate information and business requirements.
- Support program and project activities through documentation, research, tracking and administrative coordination.
- Identify opportunities to streamline administrative processes and improve team workflows.
- Maintain accurate documentation and information to support reporting, governance and informed decision-making.
- Adapt priorities and work schedules in response to urgent requests and changing operational requirements.
These additional duties reflect comparable contemporary Australian government business support roles, where action registers, records management, correspondence and briefing coordination, stakeholder liaison and process improvement are commonly required.
About You
- Demonstrated experience in business support, office administration, executive support or a comparable coordination role.
- Strong experience performing secretariat duties, including preparing meeting papers, taking accurate minutes and monitoring actions.
- Previous NSW Government, broader public sector or similarly regulated environment experience is highly regarded.
- Strong diary, inbox and workflow management capabilities.
- Advanced proficiency across Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as required by the supplied role description.
- Confidence using Microsoft 365 and electronic document, records or information management systems.
- Strong written communication skills with experience preparing professional correspondence, reports and meeting documentation.
- Excellent organisational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritise competing deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality documentation.
- Professional judgement and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information.
- Well-developed stakeholder engagement and customer service skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, take initiative and appropriately escalate emerging issues.
- Experience supporting governance, program or project activities will be advantageous.
- Familiarity with NSW Government administrative processes, records management and governance requirements is desirable.
- Willingness to complete required pre-engagement compliance checks, including a Criminal Record Check where applicable.
- Australian Permanent Residents, Australian Citizens or candidates holding a valid long-term Australian work visa are required.
