About the role

Total Steel of Australia is seeking a Steel Sales Trainee to join our dynamic sales team in Laverton North, Victoria. This is a full time position designed to launch your career in the steel and manufacturing industry. As a Steel Sales Trainee, you will work alongside experienced sales professionals to develop your understanding of steel products, customer relationships, and the logistics that underpin our business. This role offers excellent exposure to all aspects of steel sales operations and is a stepping stone to a successful career in manufacturing and logistics.

Key responsibilities

- Supporting the sales team in managing customer enquiries and providing quotations for steel products

- Learning about steel product specifications, grades and applications to effectively communicate with customers

- Assisting with order processing, tracking and coordination with production and scheduling teams

- Building and maintaining relationships with existing and potential customers through follow-up calls and emails

- Gathering market information and competitor intelligence to support sales strategies

- Participating in site visits and customer meetings to understand client needs and industry requirements

- Contributing to warehouse and logistics coordination to ensure timely product delivery

- Undertaking training and development to build product knowledge and sales skills

What we're looking for

- A school leaver or early-career professional with enthusiasm for sales and customer service

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build rapport with clients

- Numeracy skills and comfort working with figures, quotations and pricing

- Organisational abilities and attention to detail when managing multiple tasks and enquiries

- A willingness to learn about steel products, manufacturing processes and the broader logistics industry





- Reliability, punctuality and a professional approach to work

- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications

- A proactive attitude and genuine interest in developing a career in manufacturing and sales

- Preferred: Any experience or knowledge of the steel, manufacturing or logistics sectors
