About the Company
Our client designs, builds and operates accommodation and facilities for remote workforces. Its projects include modular and portable buildings shaped around each site, workforce and client’s operational needs.
It’s a specialist business where senior leaders stay close to the work and decisions can be made quickly. At the same time, it has the reach and resources of a much larger Australian construction group. The team brings together experience from construction, civil delivery, design, drafting, operations and hospitality, giving each project a practical perspective from design through to use.
About the Role
You’ll take projects from the estimating handover through design, procurement, construction and completion. That means working through the client’s requirements, coordinating consultants and approvals, setting the program and budget, procuring trade packages and leading delivery with the site team.
You’ll also manage the commercial performance of your projects. You’ll keep forecasts current, manage claims and variations, work through issues with clients and subcontractors, and make sure the finished facility meets its intended purpose.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll work directly with clients and senior leaders. The role is based in the Brisbane office five days per week, with regular site visits to stay close to progress and resolve delivery issues.
Duties
- Establish project budgets, contract requirements and programs following the estimating handover.
- Coordinate design documentation, consultants and approvals through to construction.
- Procure and manage trade packages, suppliers, subcontractors and site teams.
- Oversee costs, forecasts, progress claims, variations, reporting, safety and quality.
- Lead projects through construction,
defects, documentation and final handover.
Skills and Experience
- At least three years’ project management experience, preferably in commercial construction.
- Experience delivering building projects from design and procurement through construction to handover.
- Strong commercial understanding of contracts, budgets, subcontractors, claims and variations.
- The ability to lead project teams and build effective relationships with clients, consultants and site personnel.
- A current driver’s licence, plus a Construction Management or related qualification, or 5+ years’ practical project management experience.
Experience in modular buildings, portable facilities or workforce accommodation would be especially relevant. We’re also interested in commercial construction PMs whose delivery and commercial skills would transfer well to this work.
