Our client is an established mining organisation supporting underground mining operations in Western Australia.
With a strong focus on safety, equipment reliability, operational performance and continuous improvement, the company is seeking an experienced Underground Maintenance Manager to take responsibility for the maintenance function supporting its underground operations.
This is a senior site-based leadership opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional with a strong technical background who can manage maintenance activities, people, equipment, costs and compliance while supporting safe and productive mining operations.About the Role
The Underground Maintenance Manager will be responsible for ensuring maintenance activities associated with the project are undertaken safely and within required timeframes, while supporting the required outcomes for the client and mining operation.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Maintenance Manager will manage and coordinate the company's equipment fleet and implement maintenance strategies designed to maximise mechanical availability and reduce overall operating and lifecycle costs.
The role has broad responsibility across maintenance planning, preventative maintenance, shutdowns, equipment availability, asset management, compliance, inventory, suppliers, budgets, contractors and maintenance personnel.
The successful candidate will need a strong understanding of underground metalliferous mining equipment and the ability to lead the maintenance function in a safety and production-focused operating environment.Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning & Reliability

- Lead maintenance activities across underground plant and equipment to maximise availability, reliability and operational performance.
- Manage preventative maintenance, planned maintenance and shutdown schedules.
- Coordinate maintenance personnel, resources and workflows to minimise equipment downtime.




- Monitor equipment performance and implement improvements to maintenance strategies and systems.
- Ensure maintenance activities are aligned with production and project requirements.

Plant, Equipment & Compliance

- Ensure underground plant and equipment is fit for purpose, maintained to required standards and compliant with site and statutory requirements.
- Manage equipment commissioning, mobilisation, maintenance and lifecycle requirements.
- Maintain appropriate spare parts, consumables and inventory to support equipment availability.
- Work with suppliers and contractors to support maintenance requirements and equipment reliability.
- Identify equipment risks and implement corrective and preventative actions.

Leadership, Safety & Operations

- Lead and coordinate maintenance employees and contractors.
- Ensure maintenance personnel are appropriately trained, competent and supported.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure maintenance activities comply with company, client and legislative requirements.
- Work closely with the Project Manager and operations team to prioritise maintenance requirements.
- Coach and develop maintenance personnel while promoting accountability and teamwork.

Budget, Reporting & Improvement

- Manage maintenance budgets, purchasing and maintenance-related costs.
- Monitor maintenance performance, equipment availability, asset utilisation and costs.
- Provide accurate maintenance reporting and performance information to management.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintenance efficiency and cost performance.
- Drive continuous improvement across maintenance systems and asset performance.

Qualifications & Experience

- Electrical trade qualification – essential.
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering – desirable.




- 5–10 years' experience in the mining sector or similar industry – desirable.
- Demonstrated experience working within underground metalliferous mining operations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of PLC and/or electrical systems used in underground metalliferous equipment.
- Solid maintenance management or senior maintenance leadership experience.
- Experience managing maintenance planning and preventative maintenance programs.
- Experience coordinating planned shutdowns and maintenance activities.
- Strong understanding of underground mining equipment and asset reliability.
- Experience managing maintenance personnel and contractors.
- Experience with maintenance budgets, costs and purchasing.
- Understanding of relevant legislative, compliance and OH&S; requirements.
- Experience working with suppliers and equipment contractors.
- Ability to understand and manage contractual requirements.
- Basic ICAM; Level 2 ICAM desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver projects.
