ACSQ is one of 23 Dioceses that form the Anglican Church of Australia. Through its network of parishes, schools, education and care services, community services, ministry education and social justice and advocacy, ACSQ plays an important role in communities across Southern Queensland.

Following a recent organisational culture review, ACSQ is investing in its People & Culture capability and creating this role to help translate the findings and commitments from that review into meaningful and sustainable change.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Group Manager, People & Culture, the Culture & Capability Manager will take ownership of developing and delivering ACSQ's culture and capability agenda.

This is a role for someone who enjoys taking an organisation from insight to action.

Your remit will span culture, organisational development, leadership capability, learning and development, employee engagement and change. You will design and facilitate workshops, develop capability initiatives and annual learning programs, strengthen organisational values and support leaders to create a more connected and leader-led culture.

Communication will also be an important part of the role. You will help create greater visibility around the culture and capability agenda, ensuring employees understand what is changing, why it matters and the progress being made.

Working closely with the People Operations Manager, you will help ensure that improvements to culture and capability are supported by strong People & Culture foundations and contemporary ways of working.

What you will bring

We are looking for an experienced Culture, Capability,

Organisational Development or senior People & Culture professional who can operate strategically while remaining highly focused on delivery.

You may have developed culture strategies before, but more importantly, you will be able to demonstrate how you have turned those strategies into action and delivered tangible outcomes.

You will ideally bring:

- A solid broader Human Resources / People & Culture foundation
- Experience designing and delivering organisation-wide culture or change initiatives
- Leadership and manager capability development experience
- Strong facilitation skills and confidence leading workshops with varied stakeholder groups
- Experience developing learning, development and capability frameworks
- The ability to translate employee feedback and organisational insights into practical priorities and actions
- Solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage employees around change
- Experience partnering with executives and senior leaders and influencing decisions
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build credibility quickly
- The judgement and political awareness to navigate sensitive organisational issues appropriately
- Resilience, pragmatism and a genuine bias for action
- The ability to work independently and achieve outcomes within a relatively lean environment
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience

What is important is an ability to work respectfully within the values and ethos of the Anglican Church and to understand the nuances of a complex, purpose-led organisation.

The person

This role will suit someone who is credible, practical and action oriented.

You will need to be comfortable entering an organisation where there is a genuine appetite for change, but also recognise that sustainable culture change takes time.

You will be able to listen carefully, understand different perspectives and build trust, while still maintaining momentum and appropriately challenging the organisation when decisions need to be made.

Above all, ACSQ is looking for someone who can get things done someone who can develop the framework, bring people with them and then ensure the commitments made translate into visible action.

Why join ACSQ?

This is a rare opportunity to step into a newly created position with the ability to genuinely shape the organisation's future culture and capability.

You will have visibility and support from senior leadership and the opportunity to establish a function and framework that has not previously existed in this form.

Success will mean employees can see and feel the progress being made - through stronger leadership, clearer communication, improved capability and a more connected organisational culture.

The role offers $180,000 + super, with a Brisbane CBD location and some flexibility to work from home. Given the stakeholder and relationship-building requirements of the role, there will be an expectation to spend the majority of the initial period in the office.

If you are an experienced culture and capability professional who enjoys moving beyond strategy into delivery and wants the opportunity to make a meaningful organisational impact, we would love to hear from you.
