About the Role

We are seeking a strategic and commercially astute Commercial Manager to lead a team of Commercial Specialists in delivering best-in-class procurement services for digital capital projects. This role is instrumental in ensuring Sydney Water secures the goods, services, and facilities it needs on time, at the right quality, and at the optimal total cost of ownership. You will provide expert commercial advice, drive strategic procurement initiatives, and ensure effective delivery of procurement services aligned with project and organisational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with Project Working Groups (PWGs) and internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business objectives and improve commercial outcomes.
• Commercial Advisory: Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on procurement, sourcing, and contract management, while supporting financial oversight and governance.
• Source to Contract: Lead and oversee sourcing activities, including strategy development, tender evaluations, and supplier negotiations, ensuring timely delivery and strong commercial results.
• Project Commercial Management: Shape new commercial opportunities, develop robust strategies, and oversee the delivery of commercial outcomes across Digital capital projects.
• Contract Management: Ensure contracts are effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle, including supplier performance, dispute resolution, and ongoing contract optimisation.
• Supplier Relationships: Support strategic supplier management and lead the implementation of supply panels that meet evolving business needs.
• Team Leadership: Coach and mentor Commercial Specialists, foster a culture of continuous improvement,



and ensure effective project management and performance tracking across all activities.

About You

• Extensive experience in procurement and commercial management, ideally within digital capital or infrastructure projects.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven ability to manage complex sourcing and contract activities.
• Commercially focused with a strategic mindset and attention to governance.
• Relevant qualifications in procurement, commercial management, or a related field (e.g. CIPS).
