Chef - Model Town Indian Restaurant Employer: JMV Group Pty Ltd trading as Model Town Indian Restaurant Employment type: Full-time, 38 hours per week Salary: $80,000 per annum plus superannuation About the role Model Town Indian Restaurant is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Chef to join our kitchen team.
We are looking for someone with experience in Indian cuisine, a passion for quality food and the ability to deliver consistent dishes in a busy restaurant environment.
You will contribute to food preparation, cooking, menu planning and kitchen operations while maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and presentation.
Key responsibilities Prepare and cook Indian dishes using appropriate cooking techniques, spices and ingredients.
Maintain consistent standards of food quality, flavour, portion size and presentation.
Plan and organise food preparation to ensure efficient kitchen service.
Assist with menu planning, recipe development and estimating ingredient requirements.
Monitor the quality of ingredients and dishes throughout preparation and service.
Assist with stock ordering, inventory management and safe food storage.
Monitor food wastage and support cost-effective kitchen practices.




Maintain kitchen cleanliness and comply with food safety and hygiene requirements.
Supervise and assist with training kitchen staff as required.
Work closely with kitchen and front-of-house staff to support smooth service.
Skills and experience At least one year of relevant experience as a Chef preparing Indian cuisine.
Sound knowledge of Indian cooking techniques, traditional recipes and spices.
Ability to manage competing tasks and maintain food quality during busy service periods.
Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and secure food handling.
Good communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
Attention to detail and a commitment to consistent food quality.
Availability to work rostered evenings, weekends and public holidays.
Formal culinary training or relevant qualifications are desirable.
Previous experience in a similar restaurant environment will be highly regarded.
