Vacancy Details: Position: Leisure and Recreation Officer Job Type: Part time - 20 hours per week Tenure: Permanent Location: St Arnaud Package: $***** per hour plus superannuation Download Position Description: Leisure and Recreation Officer Position Description Applications Close: Sunday 4 October **** About the opportunity Northern Grampians Shire Council is looking for a motivated and community-minded Leisure Recreation Officer to join our team and support the safe, efficient and customer-focused operation of our St Arnaud pool.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll help deliver aquatic programs, support staff, supervise patrons and contribute to the day-to-day operation and presentation of our facilities.
About the role What you'll be doing: Help ensure our aquatic programs operate smoothly, efficiently and within budget.
Provide friendly, responsive and professional customer service to patrons and user groups.
Supervise pool patrons and user groups, ensuring high standards of water safety are maintained.
Undertake Learn to Swim activities and programs as rostered.
Take on Duty Manager responsibilities as rostered.
Provide customer and administrative support, including facility bookings and accounts payable and receivable.
Assist with the operation and maintenance of pool plant and equipment across the Stawell and St Arnaud facilities.
Help ensure pool water quality and treatment systems meet required safety and operational standards.
Support the safe and compliant operation of change rooms, toilets, showers and other facility areas.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation across the facilities.
Assist with identifying and managing health and safety risks, including accurately recording and reporting incidents and customer complaints.
Assist with training and developing employees to ensure they understand relevant procedures, regulations and pool water treatment requirements.
Supervise, support and coach facility employees to achieve organisational goals and provide a high standard of service.
Undertake other duties within your skills, competence and training.
About you We're looking for someone who is safety-focused, community-minded and confident working across the operational,



customer service and team responsibilities of an aquatic facility.
You will be: Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work positively and cooperatively as part of a team.
A strong commitment to delivering quality customer service.
The ability to supervise, support and coach team members.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
The ability to manage competing priorities and work confidently in a busy aquatic environment.
The ability to accurately complete administration tasks, checklists, reports and records.
Confidence using software applications and technology.
A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness and facility presentation.
A proactive approach to identifying risks and ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for patrons and staff.
Qualifications experience To be successful in this role, you will have: Current Pool Lifeguard qualification.
Current Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) recognised resuscitation certification.
Current Level 2 First Aid certification.
Sound knowledge of pool supervision, water safety, water education, first aid, resuscitation and rescue techniques and public safety requirements.
Knowledge and appreciation of relevant codes of practice, legislative requirements and health and safety regulations relating to aquatic facility operations.
Proficiency in the application of water treatment.
The ability to accurately interpret and apply the Victorian Pool Operators Handbook and Guide to Safe Pool Operations.
An understanding of the requirements for the safe management and operation of a public swimming facility.
