The kitchen operates as part of a coordinated team, with food preparation, cooking, portion control, presentation, hygiene and food safety forming an important part of the daily operations.
About the Role We are seeking an experienced Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis.
The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing, seasoning and cooking food in accordance with established recipes, preparation methods and service requirements.
The role requires the ability to work efficiently in a commercial restaurant kitchen while maintaining food quality, presentation, hygiene and consistency.
Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook food in accordance with established recipes, preparation methods and service requirements.
Examine foodstuffs and ingredients to ensure quality and freshness before preparation.
Prepare ingredients by cleaning, cutting, chopping, mixing, blending, portioning and seasoning as required.
Operate ovens, grills, cooktops and other commercial cooking equipment safely and effectively.
Regulate cooking temperatures and cooking times to ensure food is properly cooked.
Prepare sauces, gravies, dressings, garnishes and other food components as required.
Portion food consistently and arrange dishes for service in accordance with established presentation standards.
Prepare food to meet customer dietary requirements and relevant food safety procedures.
Monitor food during preparation and cooking to maintain consistency, quality and presentation.




Store prepared food and ingredients appropriately using temperature-controlled storage facilities.
Check the quality and condition of ingredients and report unsuitable or insufficient supplies.
Assist with preparation and organisation of food supplies required for daily service.
Maintain a clean, hygienic and organised workstation throughout food preparation and service.
Clean and maintain cooking equipment, utensils, preparation areas and kitchen facilities.
Follow food safety, hygiene, workplace health and safety and sanitation procedures.
Work cooperatively with other kitchen staff to coordinate food preparation and service.
Assist with stock rotation and monitoring food supplies to minimise waste.
Assist with preparation of new dishes and recipe items where required.
Maintain consistent food quality and presentation during busy service periods.
Skills and Experience To be successful in this role, you will have: Relevant qualification in commercial cookery, such as Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent Demonstrated 2-3 years of experience working as a Cook in a commercial restaurant or comparable food service environment.
Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, portion control and food presentation.
Experience using commercial ovens, grills, cooktops and other kitchen equipment.
Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling practices.
Ability to follow recipes and established preparation and cooking procedures.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistent food quality.
Ability to work effectively as part of a professional kitchen team.
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple preparation and cooking tasks.
