What you'll be doing
The Senior Research Fellow - Social Science provides expert advice on the application of social and behavioural science within NCIRS research programs in support of evidence-based immunisation policy, programs and practice. Contributes to the development and implementation of the NCIRS social science research program. Working collaboratively across multiple disciplinary teams, the position integrates social and behavioural science into surveillance, research, education and policy initiatives, providing expert methodological leadership to strengthen organisational capability and maximise the impact of research on public health outcomes. The role establishes and maintains strategic partnerships with government, academic, healthcare and professional stakeholders to foster collaboration, enhance research excellence and strengthen NCIRS' national and international leadership in immunisation research and evidence generation. As a senior leader within NCIRS, the position contributes to organisational strategy, research excellence and the achievement of NCIRS' broader public health and immunisation objectives.




The National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance of Vaccine Preventable Diseases (NCIRS) is the leading research organisation in Australia that provides objective expert advice on all aspects of vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs), vaccines, and other issues related to immunisation, to inform policy and planning for immunisation services in Australia and to support the control of VPDs across the whole life-course. NCIRS also has a growing Global Health program that works to support countries, particularly those in the Asia-Pacific region, on their immunisation system strengthening efforts. This work is funded through agreements with the Australian and New South Wales governments, including the Australian Centre for Disease Control, as well as other funding agencies.

Responses to the questions below:
Relevant doctoral or equivalent qualification, in social science, behavioural science, public health or a related discipline, with substantial experience leading applied research programs in health, public health or a related field
Demonstrated expertise in qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods research, including study design, analysis and interpretation.
Demonstrated experience supervising staff and coordinating projects
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills,



with the ability to build partnerships across research, government, healthcare and sectors.
Established record of research translation, publications, reporting and, grant development.
Demonstrated ability to provide specialist advice in relation to Social Science within a research program.
Demonstrated experience in leading and contributing to multidisciplinary projects and organisational initiatives, successfully balancing strategic priorities, managing competing demands and influencing stakeholders within complex environments to deliver high-quality outcomes
Demonstrate a culture of quality and patient safety in clinical research.
