Tree of Life is a proud Australian retail business with 39 stores along the eastern coast, supported by our warehouse and Office team in Somersby.
We're looking for an HR Advisor to join our team in Somersby and take ownership of the day to day HR function across our stores, warehouse and office.
This is a hands-on, varied HR role, one where no two days are quite the same.
You'll work closely with our General Manager, Area Managers and Store Managers, providing practical advice, solving people challenges and helping us continue to build a great place to work.
And yes, recruitment is part of the role, you'll play an important part in finding outstanding people for our business but but we're looking for someone who enjoys all sides of HR, from recruitment and employee relations through to policies, compliance, performance and engagement.
What you'll be doing
You'll have plenty of variety and genuine ownership across the HR function, including:
Managing recruitment across our store network, warehouse and Office from writing ads and interviewing through to reference checks, offers and contracts
Partnering with Area Managers and leaders to identify great people and support their recruitment needs
Providing practical, confident HR advice on performance, conduct, attendance, leave, entitlements and everyday employee matters
Supporting managers through performance management, investigations and workplace issues
Developing, reviewing and rolling out HR policies, procedures and processes
Interpreting and applying the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards and relevant Modern Awards
Supporting onboarding, induction and maintaining accurate employee records
Looking for ways to improve our HR systems, processes and employee experience
Contributing to engagement, retention and workforce planning initiatives
Being a trusted point of contact for our people and leaders across the business
About you
We're looking for someone who is confident,



practical and genuinely enjoys working with people.
You'll ideally have:
Experience in a HR generalist or HR advisory role with recruitment experience
Experience working across a multi-site or fast-paced environment, retail, hospitality, warehousing or similar would be a bonus
Strong knowledge of the Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards
Confidence interpreting Modern Awards and applying them in real world situations
A good understanding of the General Retail Industry Award and Storage Services and Wholesale Award would be highly regarded
Experience developing, reviewing or improving HR policies and procedures
Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail
The confidence to give managers clear advice, including having the sometimes difficult conversations
The ability to work autonomously, prioritise and get things done without needing to be told every step
A practical approach, we don't need someone who wants to overcomplicate things!
A tertiary qualification in HR, Business or a related field or equivalent experience
Most importantly, you'll be someone who cares about getting HR right, enjoys being part of the business and isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves and get involved.
