As our Building Services division continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Leading Hand to join our team.
n
This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys being on the tools while also taking responsibility for coordinating day-to-day works. We are looking for someone who can confidently communicate with clients and subcontractors, organise trades and materials, follow up upcoming works and help keep multiple jobs progressing efficiently.

About the Role
n
Working closely with our Building Services Operations Manager, you will assist in the delivery of maintenance, refurbishment, compliance and minor works projects across multiple sites.
n
The role combines practical building work with day-to-day coordination. You will be a key point of contact for trades and subcontractors, helping organise works, confirm attendance, coordinate site requirements and ensure each job is ready to progress.
n
You will also maintain professional relationships with clients and facility representatives while ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to Kingston Building's high standards.

Key Responsibilities
n
Work closely with the Building Services Operations Manager to coordinate day-to-day works.
n
Contact subcontractors and trades to organise, schedule and follow up works across multiple jobs.
n
Coordinate site access,



materials, equipment and labour requirements.
n
Lead and support tradespeople and subcontractors while on site.
n
Carry out hands‐on carpentry and general building works where required.
n
Assist with planning upcoming works and identifying what is required to keep projects progressing.
n
Monitor workmanship and ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
n
Liaise professionally with clients, consultants, facility managers, trades and suppliers.
n
Complete relevant site documentation, including SWMS, safety records and project updates.
n
Identify additional maintenance, repair and improvement works where appropriate.
n
Maintain compliance with WHS legislation and Kingston Building procedures.
n
Travel between sites to ensure works are progressing according to program
n
Occasionally be required to work away from home.
n
About You
n
We are looking for someone who is practical, organised and confident communicating with a range of people. You will be comfortable taking ownership of day-to-day tasks, picking up the phone to organise subcontractors and working independently when required.
n
Ideally, you will have:
n
Experience as a Leading Hand, senior tradesperson or in a similar hands‐on coordination role.
n
Experience delivering maintenance,



refurbishment or minor works projects.
n
Confidence contacting, coordinating and following up subcontractors and trades.
n
Strong organisational and time‐management skills.
n
Excellent communication and practical problem‐solving abilities.
n
Ability to manage multiple jobs and competing priorities.
n
Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
n
Current White Card.
n
Current Driver Licence, with the ability to drive manual vehicles preferred.
n
The following would also be highly regarded:
n
First Aid Certificate.
n
EWP, Working at Heights or other relevant tickets.
n
Current Working with Children Check.
n
Experience working within live environments such as hospitals, schools, aged care facilities or commercial buildings.
