Youth Worker or Disability Support Worker – Complex Behaviours
n
We are seeking a patient, confident and experienced Disability Support Worker to support an 11-year-old boy living with the impacts of a severe Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), ADHD, ODD and PTSD.
n
This is a rewarding opportunity for a Support Worker who enjoys working with children and can build a strong, positive relationship while providing consistent support with emotional regulation, routines, community access and daily activities.
n
The successful candidate will be someone who can remain calm and composed during challenging situations and understands that behaviour is often a form of communication.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Build a positive and trusting relationship with Atticus.
n
Follow Atticus's Positive Behaviour Support Plan, routines and visual schedules consistently.
n
Support emotional regulation and recognise early signs of escalation.
n
Respond calmly and confidently to challenging behaviours, aggression and meltdowns.
n




Use positive reinforcement, explicit boundaries and choices to encourage appropriate behaviour.
n
Provide close supervision to maintain safety, including during community access and around other children.
n
Supervise internet, device and screen use in line with his safety plan.
n
Support appropriate personal boundaries and social interactions.
n
Maintain clear communication with the care team and report incidents or concerns.
n
n
About you:
n
n
Experience supporting children/young people with complex behaviours
n
Calm, patient and confident managing challenging behaviours
n
Strong understanding of positive behaviour support
n
Reliable and consistent
n
n
Essential Requirements:
n
n
Certificate III/IV in Disability, Individual Support or Community Services
n
Current WWCC, NDIS Worker Screening, First Aid & CPR, Police Check
n
Driver's licence, reliable vehicle and comprehensive insurance
