An iconic Australian organisation is seeking an experiencedConfluent Kafka Engineerto join its technology team on an initial 6-month contract.
You'll play a key role in building, operating and evolving an enterpriseevent streaming platform, delivering secure, scalable and reliable real-time data solutions across a complex technology environment.
What you'll be doing
Design, build and enhance enterprise event streaming capabilities usingConfluent Cloud and Apache Kafka.
Develop and supportKafka Connect, event-driven integrations and reusable streaming patterns.
Establish engineering standards, governance controls and platform best practices.
Partner with architecture, security and delivery teams to implement event-driven solutions.
Build automation and self-service capabilities to improve platform reliability and developer experience.
ApplyPlatform Engineering, DevOps and SRE practicesacross the environment.
Monitor and optimise platform performance, availability and capacity.
Support business-critical production environments, including incident and problem management.




Provide technical guidance to engineering and delivery teams.
What we're looking for
Strong commercial experience withConfluent Cloud and/or Confluent Platform.
Deep knowledge ofApache Kafka, Kafka Connect and event-driven architecture.
Experience designing secure, scalable and highly available streaming platforms.
Strong cloud experience, ideallyGCP.
Experience withKubernetes, Docker and Terraformor similar IaC tooling.
CI/CD experience usingGitLab CIor equivalent.
Strong understanding ofPlatform Engineering, automation and SRE practices.
Experience supporting business-critical production platforms.
Exposure toApache Flink, Confluent Cloud Flink or Kafka Streamswould be highly regarded.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
